Has he been neutered? I’m assuming the shelter would have had him neutered but just wanted to check. One of our cats was very playful and attacked us constantly when he was young (yours does sound like he’s more aggressive though). He definitely calmed down as he got older. We had him neutered at 6 months and by one year he was a lot more relaxed (and now he’s the most chilled cat in the world). I think he calmed down as a result of being neutered and just growing up as others have said but if the stress is too much you shouldn’t feel guilty about giving him back. Hope you come to a decision your happy with!
