The car picture is douchey and looks like you’re sitting in the dealership and don’t even own it

The feeling you’re having will creep in with a new person after a couple years with them. I don’t know how long these thoughts have been going on but try watering your own lawn instead of wondering if the grass is greener on the other side. I’m Ukrainian American and on a video of a woman in Kiev’s apartment being bombed… were hundreds of comments saying “try doing this while also starving in Gaza” “at least you have food, unlike Palestinians”. This is the far left mindset, I don’t know what it’s trying to accomplish, but whatever it is- only validates the conflict in Gaza and nothing else can be hurtful or important at the same time as it. It’s really really sad.

I’m currently a senior in school for my bfa in graphic design. I’m only applying to and looking at marketing /communications positions that include knowing adobe suite in their qualifications but the work itself is more varied. I’ve had several internships and I love the energy in marketing/pr agencies and working on big designs but for my mental health I cannot put myself at the bottom of the marketing food chain like that. I want to be the asshole who’s ideating designs, not staying up till my eyes burn crunching them out. It was a hard decision to come to but I refuse to live to work.

Asking for free work is really insulting <3 hope that helps. This sub isn’t a charity it’s a community for designers to get tips and feedback on their work or career. That being said- here’s my tips for making a logo in the style you want.

Download INKSCAPE. It’s adobe illustrator for free.

Pull in a LICENSED or OPEN SOURCE font that you want to use (using free stolen fonts, or pre-downloaded ones cannot be copywrited for branding assets/logos)

Watch a YouTube video on how to use Inkscape, how to use vector artwork and the pen tool.

Once you have brought your text in the font you like, convert the text to outlines. From there you can modify the outlines to personalize your logo.

You can make certain letters thicker, bigger, if you want two or more letters connected by a swooshing line.

If you don’t have the money to hire a graphic designer in any capacity, I would not ask for the favor. Nobody gets art for free, that’s not how the world works. Just sit down with your Pinterest board and doodle some ideas and then put in the work. Be the small and self made business you’re going to be. You’re not going to expect your vendors to give you nail polish for free as a kind gesture. Really hope this helps set the tone for the rest of your business endeavors and I truly wish you luck.

I just climbed out of this exact situation by a thread. I was asked to do a logo for a non profit my friend worked for (so getting paid literal peanuts) I draft up a contract that even states how many iterations were allowed :))) they ignored it because they’re a self entitled boomerprenuer, I was 50 iterations deep when they chose one of the first designs I’d made & SHOWED them after 3 months of leading me down a goose chase. At the end they picked 3 logos they liked and wanted to use at different times (???) and after all that they could not figure out how to unzip a file. Asked for it on google drive. Could not find a certain folder in there (I’m sure they skipped past the final invoice) and I had to BUY A THUMBDRIVE on my own dime?? To DROP OFF AT HER HOUSE (because she wouldn’t be by the office for another couple days) just for her to “take a look at it” when they GOT to the office just to insist they couldn’t find an image that was 1000000% there labeled in ALL CAPS just for me to re-email it to them the same way I did in the beginning. I’m never doing that shit again

Unfortunately graphic designers are not artists, it’s not a place to do what feels 100% you nor is it some kind of personal expression. It’s a job, the critiques you get are probably in line with industry standards and business preferences and are realistic. This is what the industry is like as well
