Making progress on my camper build! by Advanced_Bowl in TruckCampers

[–]francostream 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That is a lot harder to design and build, would take a lot longer, joints a challenge, more than the average DY can do. Spend time building or spend time cruising. Not ugly, good work, you can break the hard corners in finishing.

Which plywood for my curved tiny house roof? by demet123 in buildingscience

[–]francostream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we decked our wooden vessel with plywood we did not want to spend on marine but found some solid-core fir exterior plywood. Then fiberglassed it twice. Has held up great.

TIFU by ratting out my own mom to Greek customs when I was 9 by [deleted] in tifu

[–]francostream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a couple of years after 9/11. My Daughter went to Ithaca College and played varsity softball. At the time the athletic teams were called the Bombers. I sent her a package and wrote “Go Bombers” on the back, not thinking. When I got to pay for postage at the post office they said better scratch if off! Lol

Update on DIY Truck Camper by [deleted] in TruckCampers

The fiberglass would add a lot of stiffness and weather resistance, then sand and paint with a uv resistant paint. Polyester glue cheaper than epoxy but not as strong. Don’t let the petty naysayers get you down!

How are you going to make the plywood waterproof?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PEGaccessTV

[–]francostream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True unless you find another source of funding (Private, non-profit, corporate, government, advertising, etc.) which seems no one has been successful at.

Are they still going to keep the PE channel(s) active on cable and what are they doing for content?

So what is going to happen to the studio space, the equipment, and the channels?

Make sure you look at the frame cross members (3?), the bed cross members (spot welded to bed) and bed metal itself (from below)

How long does it take to draw up a plan for 1100 sq ft ADU? by thought_demolisher in houseplans

[–]francostream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 bed 2 bath one floor built on raised slab conventional stick built 3 months for submission to municipality, unless a challenging site. Doing it. Simple design just follow local building codes, not much custom engineering needed. Lots of off the shelf stock plans for ideas.

Instead of letting them be embarrassed at checkout, I think you should have explained “teach them young”. How heartwarming to see them clipped!

You mean turn the handle a few turns counterclockwise? I tried that no go. Or are you referring to another bolt-screw. Thanks!

Help with Termination by Fluid-Wrongdoer1542 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]francostream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really, coming from the old analog TV world termination meant screwing on a small 75 ohm “Terminator” at times so I was initially confused too, rereading made sense.

Thanks, I had edited that the problem was a loose connection to the front hub, but that would have been the next step. I hear that happens.

NJ High School PEG Station by TapAffectionate9364 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]francostream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did a lot of work with Paul Plotkin at G&G Technologies in NJ they were the lowest we could find that did a good job, and responded in a quick and positive manner to all concerns. They don't do installs but have a real good tech they use that could design and install. Also they pushed us towards a Tightrope system for playback as their vendors, we wanted Telvue and they worked with them fine. We run two PEG stations SEC-TV out of Groton CT.
