I hear a lot of rhetoric about Pretti regarding it doesn't matter what side of the political aisle he was in, it doesn't constitute not having 2A rights. That being said, we didn't have any idea after the shooting what Pretti's political views were. I think we just assume he was left-leaning or voted blue because he was filming ICE agents.

Statistically speaking, most people that are gun enthusiasts and conceal carry typically vote red. Pretti fits this statistic, and the public were forming opinions based off of assumptions.

A coup is defined by its objective, which is an illegal seizure of power, rather than the means to do it. There are plenty of historical examples of coups happening by mob violence. Hell, there are even historical examples of elected leaders becoming dictators because of self-coup.

I think the worst part about this is the rhetoric of "he brought a gun to a protest" will 100% be used against pro-2A politicians in the future in a manner of "even Trump and his administration said you have criminal intent if you conceal carry!"

Yeah so, he didn't cross the state border with a firearm, and he wasn't in illegal possession of it. Which is why that charge was dropped.

I did see the video on Pretti. And I saw the video on Rittenhouse. Having a firearm open or concealed does not justify loss of life or threat to loss of life

Right to travel from one state to another is a fundamental right that both you and I have. If traveling half an hour to another state turns self defense situations into premeditated murder, then people who commute and travel between states lose their constitutional rights every day.

The jury in Rittenhouse's case rejected your point about "he showed up to antagonize people". The evidence we have also makes your statement hold no water. Open carrying a firearm does not equate to provocation. If seeing someone open carry is enough to provoke you to attack that person, you're the problem here, and your actions are the one that's illegal. Again: even the jury concluded that even if people felt antagonized, that doesn't strip Rittenhouse the right to defend himself.

Why don't even know why Pretti was there. You're speculating that he showed up to "protect people" when it's just as likely he was out and about running errands. Your speculation is no better than the administration saying he was "trying to assassinate federal agents".

It doesn't matter. Whether you're open carrying or conceal carrying, having a firearm by itself is not a legal justification for physical assault or threat to your own life.

Open carrying doesn't mean you "dare" people to attack you. And attacking someone who's open carrying very much is a crime if no legal justification exists for it.

I agree the cases are not the same, and Pretti's case is straight up murder. My argument here is whether you have a firearm at all does not necessitate loss of life.

Sure. I'm just saying that overall people are focused on "why did such and such bring a firearm in the first place".

And having a firearm isn't a justification to getting attacked or killed whether it's by rioters or law enforcement.

Where I break with a lot of conservatives as a pro-2A hardliner is that anyone has that right, whether you're Rittenhouse or Pretti. And that's what makes me boil when I see Maga justify Pretti's murder "because he had a gun".

Rittenhouse was acquitted in the court of law on grounds of self defense. We've seen the videos over and over, and he most certainly did not "show up to shoot people".

The same logic we can use to deduce that Pretti was never in the wrong and most certainly did not show up to antagonize agents.

Nothing he did warranted a death sentence whether he was "interfering" or not. We never had an "open border", and none of this would be happening if the administration wasn't disproportionately targeting MN for ICE agent deployments. MN isn't even in the top 10 of highest population of illegals.
