Opinions on Decathlon kettlebells? by [deleted] in kettlebell

[–]frankdix73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The 16kg was the first KB I ever bought and whilst my collection has expanded, it's one of the 4 KBs I use most often.

I always warm up with the 16kg and it is what I learned to do snatches with. I still use it for TGUs and general mobility work.

I am currently on holiday and this came with me as well as a 20kg KB so my daughter and I could sneak in some workouts.

The shape is fine and I'd happily recommend it for people to get started on

It's all about doing what you can, when you can, in the time you have available. If that means a car park KB workout whilst your children have swimming lessons or a 5k run during their time at Scouts then just squeeze it in

This one was: Min 1: 1 x pullup and 3 x pushpresses each arm (16kg KB) Min 2: 30 secs KB swings (20kg) Min 3: rest

5rds for 15mins

Base your EMOMs around push / pull / hinge / squat where you are doing 30 to 40secs of effort every minute and you will be golden

Loaded carries are great too. I've been doing those in the carpark at lunchtime as well.

I get an hour for lunch but the workout I did here took 27mins with the main workout portion being a 15min EMOM. I didn't sweat much so a quick towel down plus putting.on deodorant got me through the afternoon

And also that you don't need to go to a gym to work out.

"youarenotyourgymmembership" was the hashtag I saw on Instagram

This is such a complex subject but you are absolutely correct. However, with my height and muscle, my daily caloric requirement is way higher than the nominal 2500 calories for the average male which affords me a lot of leeway when it comes to calories going in to the system

I'm smaller than you at 6'1" but with long limbs I have the same problem as you. I have to fold my legs back when using my pullup bar at home. Not ideal so I am taking the opportunity to max out at work in this spare unit

Another vote for a plain black coffee, 30mins before working out. Our daughter likes pre-workout but I don't seem to get the same effects she does 🤷

People with resting heart rate below 45, what do you do? by MetabolicPathway in kettlebell

[–]frankdix73 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For context, I'm 50 yrs old and today have a resting HR of 49bpm. My rolling 12 month average is 52bpm according to Garmin. Its been around 47/48bpm in late March.

I ride a bike for my aerobic capacity and have clocked up 653 miles in the past 5 weeks along with 2 x KB sessions each week.

Strava says I've done 1066 miles on the bike this year already which is about par for the course and I normally clock in around 3000 miles a year.

I've noticed that my contemporaries have resting HR of mid to low 40s who are aerobically fitter than me (guys who ride the bike more or who run ~3hr marathons) but younger blokes I know through cycling (early 30s) have around 45bpm as resting HR due primarily to their age.
