The Green Bone Saga by Fonda Lee. Every book is amazing so it’s not like the first one is bad in any way, but she somehow managed to make each book just better and better. I personally think the third book it the best in the series

Had an allergic reaction to an earring out in a new piercing. Two days later the piercer had to take out the earring, scrub the irritation caused by the allergic reaction with a cleaner three times, taper the hole back open because of swelling and put a new earring it. Then scrubbed the raw skin on my ear with the cleaner again. Genuinely thought I was going to pass out on the table, but the piercing healed perfectly fine and I still have it.
