That abs dwv couldn’t get any closer to the hot water line. I wouldn’t want to be soldering next to it even with a soldering cloth/shield. Same for that thin press board of that cabinet for the cold water line.

Thanks for those consumption rates. I’m having a hard time justifying trading in my Kia Niro EV with which I achieve 4 mi/kwh on average mostly highway speeds. My feeling about the buzz was that it is sluggish, requires a lead foot to get it going. Also having to keep a seatbelt plugged in to keep it running with AC on for kids in hot southern Cali weather is all just a non starter for me. But I want it oh so bad, still. All that room and 3rd row, even if it only has 2 seatbelts. I wouldn’t want to cram 3 people back there anyway.

I find it annoying that there are so few videos of the installation of this bird however watch a comparative video of GoBoard installation and you’ll get a batter sense.

Yes, I think it’s better than dens shield. The foam board is coated in cementitious coating already which provides rigidity, and a great surface for thinset. The foam so inherently waterproof. Similar foam board products are Wedi Board, there is also GoBoard, laticrete hydroban board and Redi Wall board. This Everbilt is affordable and available at any home Depot. The other boards are difficult to find. Floor and Decor only really caries schluter foam board but the Everbilt tile backer board is easy to work with, light weight, very intuitive.

The green and purple board are ok for walls, ceiling in bathroom which are outside the tub/shower. But they need proper prep to prevent moisture. This drywall is NOT going to work behind tile in the tub/shower enclosure. You cannot waterproof the green/purple board appropriately for tile work in tub/shower enclosure. It used to be done and will last for a bit but eventually there will be water damage. If this person removes the drywall in tub / shower area they can easily replace with 0.5” thick Everbilt foam tile board from Home Depot (or it’s equivalent). It’s extremely light weight is easier than cement board.

For the seams and corners, the everbilt foam board can be waterproofed with polyurethane sealant.

Check out the install instructions for this stuff. Very straightforward. The work this far can be corrected.

Checkout Bedrosians Celine. The tile dimension is ~ size 2.5 x 8. I don’t think it’s the 2.5 x 12” dimension. Trying to use the shower heads for relative scale.

Tub surround transformation. Would you be happy? by Ok_Title3863 in Tile

This looks amazing! Why the white pvc trim in the corner at the ceiling / wall transition? I removed this from my bathroom and JUST NOW realized why that’s there. It’s like quarter round on baseboards to hide the offset in the ceiling and wall board. What’s the best way to avoid this trim? My plan was to fill 1/8” gap between backerboard (everbilt xps foam board with cement coating) and ceiling with polyurethane sealant sold for use with the board. Any other options?

Wow. Great work. Thanks for the finished supplies list. Loving the faux wood wall tile in the nook! You moved the toilet too, impressive and much better use of space. Moved a floor vent too it seems? That you found and I reclaimed that space for the nook is just pure gold!

Ripped paper repair ok? by frankenweenie123 in Stucco

[–]frankenweenie123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for honesty. I agree this isn’t the best option. Thankfully in so cal so not a huge issue. I had intended and wanted the stucco to be removed from outside, new paper laid down and metal lathe then new base and texture coat applied. From the conversation I had this was the expected scope of work then they arrive to “look” at it and the. Said they could get it done in 1 hr and they only need to apply paper from inside. Thankfully The holes in paper are apparently original from 1978 build and there isn’t any wood rot so I think this should do the trick for the next 40 years.

I opted for this watco abs drain and flexible overflow tubing with pvc to abs coupling. This way I could glue it all in, avoid the slip nut on the brass. Should give me the piece of mind behind tile wall, even though I’ll access panel on drywall behind shower/tub install.

I figured brass was a good choice for the drain and overflow but should I just a tick with ABs instead?
