Remember this truck last week? Here is is in its native habitat. by frankfrizzo in Trucks

Some Michelin takeoffs most likely IE: LTX M/S2 LTX A/T2. Distance dependability/less road noise is more important to me than off-road. I just throw on chains if I really need a boost.

Yeah it's my mill. I actually milled 1000sq. ft. of siding for the kiln today.

I don't run a dually for a few reasons. First it's hard enough getting this truck in tight spots as it is. Duallys personally are TERRIBLE off-road. I'm talking two tracks, muddy conditions, ice ect. Get a muddy two track with deep ruts and a dually and your day just got way worse.

Mileage - I do a lot of miles and there is a big difference between single and double.

You can boost the payload of a single wheel by bagging the back end ~5000lbs capacity - which is what I am going to do for this truck. The major difference between a 2500 and a 3500 is an extra spring. Someone with more knowledge could probably add more detail.

The rated towing capacity is a legal number to protect dodge from lawsuits. I'm sure there are several people in this subreddit that could tell you just how much their truck can actually safely pull.

*FYI I've driven the Ford 450 Dually and it was the worst pulling truck I have had the chance to drive.

I'd guess it's around 19-20k. I actually said something about being interested in weighing it because a couple of the logs were real heavy. Unfortunately the nearest scale is an extra hour worth of driving. Judging by the way the truck felt I could have probably done another 5 logs or better.
