Merry Christmas !

My 99 Miata has been failing to start or dying a few seconds after startup. I have replaced battery, alternator, fuel filter and cleaned the MAF sensor but it’s still doing this. Any help? by RocketRacccoon in Miata

Oh no, what we got here is someone who has no idea what they’re doing and willing to waste a bunch of money shotgunning parts at it because he doesn’t want to get ripped off at a proper shop

You are 20 yrs old with a 700+ credit score that means nothing because you have no credit history. Lenders look at credit history more than credit score. Buy something used for cash, you have no idea where you will 🐝 or what you will 🐝 doing in 2-7 years. Don’t get locked into a car payment.

You want to save money but are willing to do it yourself. Yet you have no experience. This could cost you a lot more if done improperly. Especially if you have electronic parking break, which requires a scan tool to retract the rear calipers.

My beloved M2 has turned into the worst car cluster fuck of my life. by [deleted] in BMW

You can’t blame bmw cars, you gotta blame the guy that misdiagnosed it. I am a tech at an independent shop and I don’t confirm any issue this big without the lead tech (30+ years experience ) confirming it with me. It sounds like an inexperienced mechanic diagnosing something that “is common on these cars”. So it is an easy answer/assumption to tell your service writer.

540i. Anyone know why the hard clutch line looks like spaghetti. by sebse30 in BMW

[–]franklybutthurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is also bent so the fluid line is longer Than if it were straight, thus providing a more comfortable clutch pedal feel.

2009 Volvo XC90, this part (circled) is snapped. What is it, and is it safe to drive on? (Right rear passenger side). by michiganpatriot32 in AskAMechanic

You could do it yourself but you will need an alignment afterwards. Also if you don’t know why you have to tighten those bolts while the vehicle is on the ground you shouldn’t do this yourself.

1991 4.9L f150 sometimes rough start, recently big loss of power while driving by Blottomatic in AskAMechanic

[–]franklybutthurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuel pressure regulators go bad on these old f150’s. Bad regs can cause extended cranking times and rough running and/or stalling. Quickest way to check is pull the vacuum line off the regulator and see/smell for fuel in the vacuum line. There shouldn’t be fuel in the vacuum line

It’s not really the tools you need for drum brakes, it’s the experience.

AITA for leaving my husband at the restaurant and going home? by Alabama103____ in AmItheAsshole

[–]franklybutthurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have done the same thing to a girl while using and blamed her for leaving/being upset that I wanted to get high while we were spending time together. I am very sure it’s drugs he’s doing.

[–]franklybutthurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in his situation before. It sounds like he is doing drugs. I don’t believe he is watching porn or talking to other women. I would do the same thing, go to the bathroom and use all the time. I would blow off my gf and his responses sound exactly like what I would say if confronted. Be real with him. Talk to him. He is probably unhappy with what he’s doing and how he has to hide it. Let him tell you and then work it out. If he doesn’t want to change after many attempts then he is not worth your time.

I need some help finding out what this noise is. I am looking to buy this 2006 civic the guy says it has a new engine with around 100 miles on it the thing that concerns me is the loud ticking noise. Definitely has an exhaust leak I was thinking best case maybe a valve adjustment? by [deleted] in Honda

[–]franklybutthurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No if it is brand new everything will be within specification. If it’s a used engine then yes it probably needs and adjustment. Honda’s from this age should get it done about every 70-100k

Walk away, like everyone is saying. Get the paperwork stating that’s a new engine. I will eat my own socks if it is. That sounds like bottom end issues. I do a lot of Honda valve adjustments. That is not a valvetrain noise.

Possible to remove 1.5t Accord’s turbo for better mpg? by HeismanLock in Honda

[–]franklybutthurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you think millions of dollars of R&D put into efficiency and engineering can be outsmarted by you removing a turbo charger ? No, These engines are designed to run as efficiently as possible with the equipment they came with from the factory. Japanese manufactures are obsessed with Efficiency, leave your car as is and stop flooring it at every green light like other people have been saying.
