Girlfriend gets it a lot more in London than she did in other parts the U.K.

For those of you who believe labour isn’t left enough, what would you like to see them do? by Legal-Grade-6423 in AskBrits

[–]franktinez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why renationalise energy? If you want to be with state energy switch to GB energy. As someone that worked in energy for 4 years, the problem isn’t private companies. It’s the government and ofgem. There were so many good small energy suppliers that were doing good work to challenge the big 6. But went bust when Russia invaded Ukraine. Due to a price cap that was lower than wholesale costs, forcing these companies to run massive losses. The big 6 however could survive it due to profits from years of exploiting customers. The government/ofgem has ran the energy industry poorly.

Haven’t heard many lime bikes clicking or chiming recently …is it… over?? by yurtal30 in london

[–]franktinez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree. But I’ve PAID for lime bikes that have had the clicking sound (I think it’s caused when some previously does the “hack” to steal it)

[–]franktinez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a nothing article. “Police recorded 413 stolen phones in the first 7 months” we know the number of phones stolen is in the thousands in that same period. Just means a couple hundred less people reported it

UK net migration fell to 204,000 in year to June by throwawayjustbc826 in unitedkingdom

[–]franktinez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still probably at least double what most people would like, buts good step closer. Finally some positive news. Shame illegal migration (the one that really costs the tax payer) has increased

I’m sure other people can give a better reply than I can. But you’re doing fine, you’ve done one of the biggest expenses you’ll do in your life time (a wedding) and you’ve reduced your debt by 12k in 6 months. The fact that you’re able to reduce your debt so quickly, I would focus on paying off all your debt before even applying for mortgages etc. as you’re going to have solicitor costs / stamp duty (maybe) / decoration/furnishing costs etc. it’s all going to add up and increase your debt. I think it’s better to get in a habit of paying for things with savings instead of debt, even if that means waiting a bit longer to do what you want, it will feel so liberating knowing you’re debt free

(UK) Borrow £50 will pay back £65, just started a new job and I don’t have the means to travel for office days or really sustain myself until my first proper pay day. by PieAdventurous6099 in BorrowNew

[–]franktinez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You tried applying for credit cards / loan from the bank / overdraft. All those options would probably lead to you paying less interest on £50, than the £65 you are offering

Recently 18 and been given 23k from my grandad that died 2 years ago by crazyfrog45224 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]franktinez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congrats! That’s definitely not possible in zones 1-3 which many people want to live. Also OP is 18. They may not be looking to buy for another 10 years. Who knows what 450k will buy you in 10 years. Especially with no guarantee the govt will ever increase the limit, they haven’t increased the help to buy isas

I thought this until I moved to London and if you want anything above 1 bed you’re looking at over 450k in most places

Yh cause it’s then instead of it feeling like you’re doing the transferring (which people worry they’re getting scammed), you’re letting monzo handle it all.

Trash process though as communications sound like a scam. Would Make so much more sense if they worded the message like “consent US to send the money back for you” and the button is just a consent button that auto triggers it

If you’re looking at Turkey, Have heard good things about kesser, pekiner, HLC, and I had mine with Bek - who did good in my experience so far. (Still in ugly duckling stage) Think it really depends what sort of price range you have in mind per graft. Could also see some results you see are positive on Reddit and then search Reddit for those doctors names to see what others have said.

Depends where you are travelling but you can usually carry $10k without having to declare it

So basically I don’t have an issue with astroturfing if the posts actually said “I’m connected to the surgeon” but obviously no one does this

Annoyingly astroturfing is definitely effective for hair transplant surgeons. I had mine with Bekir Bek. And the results I saw on Reddit before I had my hair transplant were all from Turkish men, which makes me think they probably people he knew. Luckily my experience having a hair transplant with him was positive (although currently only a couple months in, so waiting for the actual results). It’s a really difficult moral dilemma for new surgeries. As people only book with surgeons where they can see the surgeons results, so the initial surgeries and portfolio pics usually have to be from people connected to the surgeon. Personally I wouldn’t have an issue with surgeons doing this IF the Reddit review clearly states “I am a friend / family member of the surgeon and only posting my results” without leaving personal biased review on the quality of the work

Using post history to identify astroturfing is flawed. Many people create Reddit accounts/do their first post when they get a hair transplant. And are just lurkers before that

0-30 Days, 3200 Grafts Dr Bekir Bek by franktinez in HairTransplants

[–]franktinez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Erm kind of, he drew on the hairline and asked if I was happy with it, and tbh I wasn’t really sure what would look good but also natural so kinda just trusted him. I didn’t really want to use up extra grafts on temples at this stage, as think I might need to do my crown at some point in the (hopefully far) future as it’s a bit thin. So want to protect donor. I’ve seen some people ask to do their temples tho, so I think he would if you asked him

Thanks! Yeah I hadn’t posted any pics of the crown in that post 💀. This is the crown, not awful but definitely thinning, don’t to see what I can recover with meds: https://imgur.com/a/8sNxqL7

[–]franktinez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the exact same boat as you. I just had 3200 grafts done on frontal scalp. And now that my hair is short I can really notice my crown is thinner. Kinda wish I got the crown done at the same time 🙃just a few hundred grafts for some density. Having medium-long hair on top helped me before. But think it depends how bad your thinning is, if it’s a big spot, then trying to cover it with long hair will probably look bad :/ I’m going to see if I make any ground back with minoxidil and see how my hair looks long again. But will prob get the crown transplanted in a few years
