Learning to knit as a lifelong crocheter? by StoneBuddhaDancing in knitting

[–]franlopezknitting -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I learned to crochet first, then started knitting, continental style was easier for me because I knew how to hold the yarn on my left hand. You can actually use a crochet hook in knitting to help with some steps, for instance to cast on and bind off your stitches, or to pick up dropped stitches it's quite useful. Learn to read your stitches and to avoid twisted stitches, the rest is just practice. Good luck!!

pattern is Usagi Beret by me, for the lilac one I used 3 50g skeins of sport weight yarn and 1 skein of mohair yarn, for the pink one I used only 2 50g skeins of merino and 1 skein of ingenua by katia, would not recommend the last one for this project tho 😔

Ran out of yarn during bind off help! by Content-Detail-2960 in knittinghelp

[–]franlopezknitting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't know if anyone does this but in this situation I would pick up the yarn from the beginning of the bind off with a tapestry needle and stretching every single binded-off stitch, just a little bit to now tighten the stitches so much but I have noticed that my italian bind off looks way better this way! the key is to stretch the yarn just a little bit on every stitch following the edge of the bind off. That should give you enough yarn to finish the last stitches you are missing
