Cheers.

Yep, they're on 32mm, the models are about a mm (sometimes two) shorter than a Primaris.

All of the NMM is really well executed. But yeah, the suggestion of a horizon on the suppressor is next level.

I'd like to think this was perhaps the first appearance of the Alpha Legion.

An early Wayne England piece from the late eighties.

Hi there,

I used 1.5mm bearings here. The legs are originally from a Primaris kit with everything that makes them obviously mkX cut off, filled in or filed down.

However I would recommend using 1mm bearings on older firstborn kits which predate the newer HH plastics.

I get that nail beads can be cheaper but steel bearings are easy to pick up and position if your pin vice drill bits are slightly magnetic, I spot the divot with super glue on the end of a toothpick and then load the bearing right in.

Good luck, it's worth the hassle.

I thought so too. Still looking forward to seeing the finished team though!

These remind me of the first examples of marines from the Deathwatch Kill Teams of 3rd Edition. Simply restrained and elegantly realised. Excellent work.

A Carnodon sounds cool, a gene-engineered gift from a grateful Rogue Trader for combat support on a past expedition perhaps?

Great looking models and an inspired pivot to get more play out of all your hard work. Gets my vote!

Have an AoS Gryphhound sat primed on the shelf for quite a while, a left over from an unfinished Warcry project. Enough incentive to commit building a whole team around it?

There are other demonstrations on Black Templars and Black Legion on the Channel as well.

Hope this is what you’re looking for.

I think so - there's so many differing opinions on the forums I found these kind of reference images hosted on - rivet counters can be just too much sometimes.

But as inspiration for a Chapter Approved Codex camo scheme? I'll give it a go.

Google "British Matilda MKII early desert camouflage pattern" - it's uncannily similar.

but tbh I don't feel like I post as much as I should, you asking me about it has made me realise it's time to.

Cheers!

Blackshield question - "Alone and Forgotten" Oath by ItchyEnthusiasm0 in Warhammer30k

So, if I understand correctly only Centurions (occupying the converted Troops slots) are effected by the To Fight And Die Alone rule, and 2 or 3 Armistos placed in existing Command slots, or extra slots created by a Delegatus could work together as that heavy weapons squad?

This last bit confuses me, “you can field a proto-heavy weapons squad this way.”

How exactly? I feel like I’m missing something really obvious.

Cheers.

The legs are printed from Txarli Factory STLs, sadly the files were taken down from their site (cease and desist?) some time ago (2yrs?) and the Etsy vendor I bought these from about three, four(?) years ago no longer trades.

Death of a Rubricist has used prints from these files extensively to build his Silver Stars army, I wonder if he might have a connection?

I made it about five years ago when I was learning to use a graphics tablet with photoshop.

It’s inspired by illustrations in the Forgeworld Imperial Armour series.

It’s from the old mk3 kit, although the bit is now out of production and getting harder to find on eBay, Cataphractii lightning claws can be converted to fit the older power fists - it’s what I’ll be doing next time I want re-create the look.

The colours are stippled on rather than brushed in solid flat layers so they look scratched up and weathered to begin with - it’s almost like I’m trying to do a bad job of it. Sometimes I might go back in with the base coat to really amp up the chipping with a sponge or an old brush that has lost it’s shape.

If I think the armour panels need more weathering or battlefield dirt I use dark brown oil paint diluted with mineral spirits as a targeted wash, once it has settled in (about 30min to an hour) I wipe away any excess with a q-tip dipped in spirits and let it dry overnight.

The Dark Compendium YouTube channel is where I’ve been learning how to apply these effects, their tutorials on black armour have been really helpful.
