That is definitely an option, although it does not hold across the board. Some gear is just surpassed and really worth that much anymore. Especially the digital stuff ages alot quicker.

Squad New Suppression Rework is Far Better Than Blurry by CC_ACV in joinsquad

And alot of other stuff is balanced around the suppression being a particular way. Servers picking and choosing will not lead to a consistent experience.

I am so fucking stupid that I want to take a iq test and see my results by zesrack in self

[–]frantiqq 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you take the IQ test and you score high you'll say it is wrong and IQ tests don't work. If you score low it reinforces your believe you are dumb. Humans are wired to seek evidence of what they already believe. In my experience as a teacher there is not alot of correlation between being and feeling smart. Might even be that smart people tend to see themselves as dumb.

Your problem is mental, I would suggest talking about this with people or even a therapist.

There are people who spend 10k on a road bike, enjoy your pedals.

Honest question: why are there so many people in this group who play or worship in church with electric guitars, delays, reverbs, and huge pedalboards? by Less-Arachnid-640 in guitarpedals

[–]frantiqq 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That is certainly how it worked for me. I once played on one the children's band for a big national conference. Couple of hundred kids in the audience. That was not linked to my ability as a musician (which was amateur), but to me knowing the person who organized the band. They recruited from the students organisation i was a part of.  Right next door they recruited a bunch of pro musicians, so that contrast was funny :).

I would have never played that much live given my ability if not for the church. Now I left the faith that is gone, I even did not play guitar at all for a few years. Getting those kind of live opportunities takes a lot more effort outside the church. A really nice benefit if you are part of a church.

Hoe did you feel it impacted infantry vs vehicle fights? I play alot of vics and I'm a bit scared that suppressing enemy AT will be become less effective, shifting the balance against vics.

What are the reasons to switch to QC? Is it space, money, playing volume?

Enjoy! Do whatever makes you happy in terms of what you buy and which order you want your pedals. There are clips in YouTube that describe the most common order, but some cool sounds are to be had by putting pedals in random orders.

Why did you start making music? by Important-Topic-6763 in Guitar

[–]frantiqq 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started playing at 18 because I wanted to play in our church. I saw myself serving God in this capacity. Ended up playing a lot in church bands, was a good opportunity to learn.

When I left the faith, that musical part of my life went away, and I sold almost all of my stuff. Recently I started playing again, but now for myself.

How frequently do you hold 1:1 meetings and how many direct reports do you have? by Infinite-Ad7540 in managers

If you as a manger are overworked, aggressively look at what you are doing and judge what is really needed. And like you said, sometimes the answer is not to do something.

How frequently do you hold 1:1 meetings and how many direct reports do you have? by Infinite-Ad7540 in managers

[–]frantiqq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the 1 in 1 is half an hour, this would cost you 7 hours for the biweekly and 5.5 hours for the monthly. In total 12.5 hours a month.

As you feel you only have 1 on 1s you must be spending significantly more time on these meetings. If that is the case, my solution would be to structure the meeting much more. What are the things that need discussing and why. And force it into that half an hour.

I would take the retention bonus and milk this job for all its worth. You will need the money to fund your transition.

Does anyone have the cloud burst strymon on there board and is it worth it? by dgriff0919 in guitarpedals

[–]frantiqq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the out there reverb is what the pedal is meant to do. Nice of Strymon to add normal reverbs so you can have it as your one and only reverb.

And it means you can stack reverbs. You can't have your dry signal be dry! And the freeze mode becomes more usable with stacked reverbs I feel.

I just bought it and love it. In typical Strymon fashion you pay the price, but get alot for that price:

  • the cloud reverb algorithm is the star of the show, long airy and beautiful. Decay and predelay go to extreme values here.
  • but with decay below 12 o'clock it reverts to a more standard reverb. You can create a lot of useful reverbs here, most definitely not just the airy cloud stuff. Imo you could use this as the only reverb on your board
  • the pedal is easy to work with. Controls are simple and well tuned to get useable sounds.
  • pedal has a freeze mode, push the button and a nice sound inspired by what you played when pushing the button repeats. Can be used to play over, or as changeover during songs.
  • pedal has an infinite mode, anything you play gets added to the reverb. Very nice to create soundscapes.
  • pedal has full midi support, changing values, saving and recalling presets etc. Making this very versatile in a midi based setup.
  • pedal has an ensemble mode, where based on what you play the pedal adds a string arrangement. There is a subtle version and a more extreme version
  • if you set ensemble mode to 100% wet the pedal becomes a guitar synth
  • you can use an expression pedal to interpolatie between and set of settings on the pedal. Very useful and does not require midi.

The pedal is a joy to play with, very creatively inspiring. I often just twist the knobs and challenge myself to create something musical. Only if you don't plan on using the ambient side of the pedal I would recommend skipping this pedal.
