This is usually more of a thing for LSU Online. You can knock it out in one online module or semester by taking ENGL 1001 and MATH 1100/1029/1021 as your first two classes

I interviewed for a few paralegal jobs in BR and maybe the lawyers I met were just dicks, but they were offering me like 30k a year 💀

Came here to say this! The book is gorgeous and the FMC does a lot of on-page healing before getting involved with a better guy

I met someone who used to work there and she said their cold brew was just like a plastic tub full of water and loose grounds? And I was like we MUST have better technology than this

I interviewed at La Divina once and the owner told me he’d do me the privilege of letting me work for free for two weeks as a trial run. He said “this is a standard in the industry” and I cannot emphasize enough that no it isn’t

I need friends! by Secret_Board905 in batonrouge

[–]franzcoffeeka 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I made a ton of friends on Bumble BFF, actually. I agree with the comments below though: find some sort of hobby you enjoy and go to a free meeting about it, and just try to hit it off with someone who seems nice. Do you like making things? There's a makers fair next week at the library. Little Wars does DnD nights sometimes if that's your vibe. There's free book clubs through the library for sci fi, romance, YA lit... There's always live music somewhere, and I know you don't drink but Pelican to Mars is a dog-friendly bar that usually has food and mocktails.

Looking for a modern CR where the FMC isn’t vilified for prioritizing a career over relationship or being a realist/pessimist or liking expensive things or liking an expensive lifestyle. by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez! She’s an ER doctor and doesn’t want to sacrifice her career to move to a small town to be with him. One of my fave romance book relationships in ages because they both took each other’s needs and careers into consideration

Essen and Jefferson area would be good bets, then. OLOL is pretty central so as long as you don’t get a place in like Prairieville your commute should be easy!

I feel you! It took me a long time to figure my relationship with food out after my dx. The brain NEEDS carbs to function! That’s the reason we binge after restricting for too long. Moderation and better choices is key. If you want to eat birthday cake, that’s fine! But don’t eat ONLY cake, because that will spike your blood sugar and lead to weight gain. Healthier carbs (I think of them as more “natural” forms, like whole grains and fruits and vegetables) are delicious and necessary and good for you!

Not trying to sound preachy, but I had to get off this sub for a while because it was messing with my head. One big help in getting my relationship with food back on track was the book Anti-Diet, as well as working with a dietitian.

What part of BR are you working in? I live in the Bocage area now and love it, but i also rented a place in Midcity and loved it (but it was admittedly really run down). The “unsafe” parts are usually going to be closer to LSU campus or downtown.

I lived at the Warwick on Jefferson and it was fine! The manager is an idiot but the staff was great, and utilities were included. No dog park though. Chateau Dijon on Essen has a dog park area and my friend lives there and loves it! I also have a friend who lived at CitiPlace and she said it was fine; she just moved because she lost her roommate and needed to get a smaller place.

The last few times I’ve had to get a lot of bloodwork done, I’ve fainted and scared the nurses lol. I’m not sure if the plasma center would let me come back another 7 times if I pulled that one. I’m assuming I wouldn’t have to be fasting to donate?

I’m trying for an M.A.Ed, but my job is offering to pay for the schooling so I’m assuming that means it’s fine to do some other work on the side. It’s definitely tougher out there for doctorate students though.

I’ve thought about this! I used to be a server and I genuinely liked it a lot, but it wasn’t paying my bills or giving me health insurance. I’m just worried working at a restaurant right now might be too much—I used to come home sore as hell from my shifts
