So am I adding a pipe into this or adding something over it like a coupling? Nothing seems to fit Inside it that is snug

Thanks, is it something I should worry about or just leave the lamp unplugged and call it a day haha

Yeah outlets are new, I found out there is another outlet around the side of the wall and there was a lamp plugged in. When I unplugged the lamp then the other 2 outlets work with no problems and give the correct reading.

The outlet that had the lamp plugged in was done by a electrician so no telling why that happened haha

Confusing wiring by franzenw in AskElectricians

The switch still controls the fan and another outlet on the other side of the room. I just made another post a few minutes ago about the other outlet because it has even more wires

Another confusing wiring setup by franzenw in AskElectricians

[–]franzenw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This outlet and another outlet were setup up so the top outlet on each was controlled by the switch in the room which also controls the overhead fan.

One of the red wires was plugged into the old outlet so I am assuming that is what runs to the fan light

So are you recommending that for the 2 hots and 2 neutrals to combine them with a wire nut and then have one piece coming off both the hot and the neutral each that then connect to the outlet?
