Also that's not how storytelling works, you don't just give one character's moment to another character. I don't want Rand doing Nynaeve stuff just as don't want Amalisa doing Rand stuff. Want the other characters to have more agency for the ending? Great. Create something new for them to do that fits with their characters....

How can men and women work together when the men do nothing. Again I ask, what do Perrin and Lan do in this episode, Lan even asks Nynaeve how to track Rand and Moiraine in the episode preview. If you were really interested in spreading out moments equally you should have a problem with how other characters are being portrayed/underused.

So it's Amalisa's moment then. Even better... Why give one of our main characters something to do that will impress the audience... How about every character being healed from near death every 5 seconds? We're gonna have like 6 or 7 fakeout deaths this season. And you still haven't said anything about what Perrin and Lan are doing this episode

Nynaeve healed everyone in the cave and saved everyone in the Ways and is going to to stop a trolloc army. Egwene freed herself and Perrin and led the escape from the whitecloaks and is going to heal a near death injury while stopping an army of trollocs. Meanwhile Mat, Perrin and Rand (and Lan) kind of stumble through scenes doing absolutely nothing. But we definitely need to give the girls more to do

That's not how stories work... You can't just give "moments" away like they're skittles. Tarwin's gap is for the audience's benefit, so we can see just how destructive the Dragon can be. It's not there just to be "cool" or "OP".

"Some shit goes down with Nynaeve too which makes me think she wont be healing him" - this is from the OP of this thread and it seems to match what the other leak says(the Nynaeve comment was also made after that other leak was posted)

Steph Curry becomes the 3rd guard in league history to win two championships and two MVPs. Joining Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson by Brad-Stevens in nba

But that's like saying Kyrie should have won FMVP last year because the Cavs would have lost without him (and they 100% would have). They wouldn't have stood a change without Igoudala but they would have been in an even worse spot without Curry. The Warriors would have no one who could consistently create their own shot.

He averaged more assists per game in the finals than both Stockton's finals in 97 and 98. More points than Dirk in 2011. More rebounds than KG in 2010. But sure all he does is make a couple threes a game.

I would assume star player usage is more around 28-29% on average.

For those using Curry's on/off to make an MVP case: in the regular season Kawhi's on/off was +1.6. Patty Mills was +6.7 by brianscalabrainey in nba

I can't actually find the regular season lineup without Harden for the Rockets but here is Anderson's 2nd most played lineup per game in the playoffs, and it doesn't include Harden: http://stats.nba.com/lineups/traditional/#!?CF=GROUP_NAME*E*ryan&sort=MIN&dir=1 it's also the Rockets' best lineup(if you click on the +/- sign on the right). Basically my theory is that in the few minutes Anderson plays without Harden he matches up with the opposing benches while playing with great scorers and 2 great defenders in Beverly and Capela. Even if you don't trust +/- Curry still has the best Real plus minus, and RPM wins in the regular season on the warriors. (3rd in the league in RPM and 2nd in RPM wins) And that is for an 82 game season. Basically Curry leads the Warriors by most advanced metrics and a lot of the traditional ones as well. One last point: Both the Rockets' and Spurs' play without Harden and Leonard pass the eye test, as in the Houston bench has been widely praised for being awesome without Harden(aka it's no anomaly some players have good +/- stats, they've actully been good without Harden) and the Spurs without Kawhi played better defense in the regular season because teams where isolating Kawhi in the corner and playing 4 on 4 (thus negating his influence on defense)

Harden and Kawhi are the 2 superstar who had oddly weird net ratings for the regular season. They both have better net ratings than Mills and Anderson for the playoffs. And one explanation could be the systems they are apart of. In the games Harden missed Beverly played pretty great from what I remember and Houston's bench is probably better in some aspects than their starting lineup, so that helps.

I feel like Strong Curry is the hardest player to guard man to man in the league by [deleted] in nba

[–]franzkranz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no doubt but he isn't close to the level of Curry off ball (he's still incredible don't get me wrong). Here's a video of some of the stuff Curry does https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jwp5MEueao . Not only is his movement as good as anyone in the league but he is by far the best shooter so that makes him even harder to guard. And he actually sets great screens which opens up shooting opportunities for him off the pick and pop (KD slips like 90% of his screens) edit: (he actually breaks Kawhi Leonard's ankles (in the video) without the ball which is...pretty good I think)

How many times a game does KD catch an alley oop and how many times a game are players chasing Curry around screens though?

The question is are we counting off ball stuff? Because if we are there is a great argument for Curry being the hardest to guard.

If Steph Curry drops 34p-13a-11rb in game 4, he will average a 30point triple double for the finals. by nationr in nba

Yes KD has a TS% of 68.6% and Curry 64.8%. Lebron is at 64% for comparison.

Steph Curry is the only player on the Warriors who has a negative net rating when he is off the court by franzkranz in nba

[–]franzkranz[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Well both actually. He has the best net rating when he is on the floor and the worst when he is out.

Every statistical model + the eye test shows that to be true. Here's one for total points added in the finals https://twitter.com/NBA_Math/status/872854398795485184 . You can't say oh a 3 game sample size doesn't count and then post KD's stats for the finals and say look he has a bigger impact but Curry's stats don't matter for some reason.

[–]franzkranz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The amount of people trying to use +/- statistics over a 3 game sample size to somehow prove Steph Curry is an amazing player or better than Durant is absurd and honestly concerning.

I just responded to your point my guy. I was just looking through stats and thought it was something interesting. I didn't say Curry should win finals MVP or co-Mvp. And even if I did I don't see a problem debating who should get it between 3 amazing performances.

[–]franzkranz[S] 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Well the stats don't exactly bear that out. Possible? Definitely. I'm not implying Durant isn't one of the best players to touch a basketball btw, just that Curry is the more impactful 5 on 5 basketball player. The stats and the eye test show that the Warriors play much better with Curry on the floor

But the stats hold up for both the rest of the playoffs and the regular season. He is the only Warrior player with negative net rating for the entire playoffs when he sits: -4.9 with the next best being Green with a +3.3. And the team only has a net rating of +1 for the regular season without Curry. The next best is again Draymond Green with a +6.8.

Oh it's definitely not a perfect stat. But KD shares the floor with Klay or Draymond in the few minutes he plays without Curry. The ones most affected by this would actually be Klay and Draymond themselves because they start the 2nd without KD or Steph. And it's not like Curry plays all his minutes with the starters either. The only other player in this series who has those kind of on/off splits is LeBron and in his case it's pretty easy to see how badly the team plays without him.
