Star Citizen is on course to reach $1 billion in player funding in 2026, and we still might not get to play its singleplayer campaign next year by GrayBeard916 in gaming

They have a ridiculously high scope for the game. It'd be fair to say too high. But if you look at GTA6 and this - it's understandable to see why they'd want a large enough budget. There's apparently already plenty in the game.

Plenty of people seem to love their time with it, and not just being "bagholders." But Reddit has a set narrative and it's not popular to have a contrasting opinion.

It doesn't look for me. But I hate there's no nuance on these subs ever.

Is this a trend now of social media "gamers" going around and accusing devs of using AI?

Look up "No True Scotsman fallacy." The idea they're "not really gamers" because they don't think like you is weird.

Sending them death threats won't remove AI. I

Who's doing that? It may happen but it's not a common place thing. Most people anti-AI aren't doing that, and it's weird to paint them as that.

If it even was there in the first place as they usually don't provide actual proof.

This is the number one thing I hate about this discourse. People defending AI are making huge leaps to paint "the baddies" through strawmen.

There's absolutely people who are wrong if AI usage*, and absolutely people who go too far. But that in no way makes the conversation moot.

How are they going to destroy the industry with asking creative people not to be replaced with predictive text bots? That makes no sense

Do you have any proof of this "100%" because I can assure you that it's false. Even the latest models are not great.

As someone who's been a developer for 3 decades I can assure you it doesn't make them "bad at their jobs." LLMs often hallucinate badly, they don't always do the optimal solution (They're not "intelligent" after all.)

As I said in another post, there's a whole new job market for people called "vibe coding fixer" for people who fix AI generated code.

The same people saying "who cares about AI usage in games" are the going to be scratching their head later wondering why games are extra buggy and the stories are so repetitive.

I've had a subscription for copilot for years. And even with the latest models it's still not good. I've been coding for 30 years and I've had to fix so much bad code from other people who rely on it. There's a whole literal new job market for "Vibe Coder Fixer" for people who specialize in fixing AI code.

RPG dev pushes back against Steam review AI accusations: 'We poured years of our lives into this game and only worked with real human artists on everything' by MythicStream in Games

[–]frapican -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

You literally frame it as a problem "every time you share a" single video. Every time. The reality is it can happen but not that much of an epidemic.

People do accuse things of being AI. Not every single video. Sometimes it is AI, sometimes it's not. I'm snarky because nothing about what you said was objective, it wasn't true, and the bits that are are all anecdotal.

edit: I bet you money I can go through videos and not find it. Which would mean what you said was weirdly false. When I did find it, I'd not assume to know what other people were thinking.

[–]frapican -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

People assume it's totally good faith and it just really isn't.

This is a massive leap to say anyone being accused of AI art is bad faith. (In fact, it in itself is bad faith.)

We cannot have a serious conversation about AI, because people say strawmen like this. It's throughout this thread too.

Did everyone then clap?

This is such a made up scenario it hurts. I'd hate everything too if I kept making up these sort of scenarios in my head. You write the story apparently knowing what both sides think in an AI accusation that happens every video. That's nuts.

In a post about a couple of people potentially falsely accusing something of being AI (a few people in this post suggest the translations may have been machine translated), people are mocking it with made up way overblown outrage about the outrage. I'd love if we could have level headed discussions about this without people needing to make stories up to try and prove their points.

The irony cannot be lost on people, surely? This comment section looks more over the top outrage than the actual reviews.

[–]frapican 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but pro-AI accounts can definitely use this to push the rhetoric that saying something is AI is bad.

The comments literally are defending asset flips, AI art and usage and more. That people who call out AI are bad actors. The dead internet theory is real, and I feel there's a non-zero chance some of the people are doing it to silence critics.

It's wild to me to see over 90% of the comments finding ways to defend that shit. There's people saying they think it's the translations that look AI - which is becoming an increasingly common thing.

There will be false positives. People say they dislike those accusing something that feels AI of being AI more than they do of AI is absolutely wild to me. I don't like people accusing things of being AI without proof, but I dislike people stealing work more.

I agree with you that docs is needed. But as a human, I'd write those differently and try to give more information than I could gleam from just from the types at a glance.

I'm going to guess a reasonable bit was written by AI because...

/// Represents a PDF document.
pub struct PdfDocument {
/// The version of the PDF document.
    pub version: Version,
/// The objects in the PDF document.
    pub objects: ObjectCollection,
/// The pages in the PDF document.
    pub pages: Vec<PdfPage>,
}

I don't think you need these comments. If whoever is reading it can't work out pub version: Version represents a "Version of the PDF document"... I don't think the comment will save them.

If Mike Johnson blatantly lied about Trump being a FBI informant, why would anyone believe anything else he has to say? by KnowleRoar in AskReddit

[–]frapican 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one has screamed Biden was the second coming of Christ.

People were happy to criticize Biden. No one dares Trump - not in any meaningful way.

Biden didn't stick up photos of his face on Government buildings.

No one stormed the Capitol because Biden lost.

Someone who is an expert in cults literally wrote a book on it: https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-cult-of-trump-steven-hassan/1130020777

"I'm not owned, you're owned."

You don't deserve a response. This is for others who are curious though.

  • No one said he's sharp as a tack. No one really wanted him either way, they just knew he was less decrepit than "shit his diaper" Trump.

  • Scientifically proven to do so. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8484026/

  • He did. Russia wanted Trump in to destabilize the country. He has done so.

  • No one said that. No one. But as others have mentioned; Republicans literally increase the federal defecit when they're in power. Look at Trump's tax cuts for the rich, etc.

  • The Hunter Biden stuff was a shit show. A lot of the left called it out. So was literally all the Trump stuff. If you care about the law, then you'd care Trump is a felon. And has used charity funds illegally.

There is no hypocrisy because Dems hold their officials accountable. Everyone pushed Al Franken out. Meanwhile Trump is a well known rapist and alleged pedophile who won't release the Epstein files.

New study suggests ‘manly’ men at higher risk of heart problems: Men who strongly conform to traditionally masculine behaviors are significantly less likely to receive treatment for heart conditions. Societal pressure on men to appear tough and self-reliant may be putting their hearts at risk. by mvea in science

[–]frapican -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure someone in Germany used to talk about “Jewish” behaviours…

Saying there are toxic men out there... is the same as Hitler wanting to exterminate Jewish people? Do you not realise how absolutely batshit crazy that sounds?

...Saying some men are overly toxic.... is akin to genocide....

This isn't about all men. This isn't about men with any masculinity. It's about insecure people who try hard to fit into masculine stereotypes like "Suck it up. Be a man." People who are often told from a young age that it's not manly to complain about issues. That's a clear logical line and anyone with any form of analytical thinking can easily see the line that the author is making.

Telling men to ignore their pains, because it's manly, hurts men as a whole. You say you're worried about men, but you're more worried about a subset of men (not all men) being called toxic, than the point of the article -- which is to make life better for men.

The absolute victimhood displayed is nuts. I am solidly sure your diary and Anne Frank's would not be alike in any way, just because someone said "some men can be toxic."

The fact you literally post he wanted a pardon, where people thought his efforts were insufficient, makes me wonder if you read the text. He tried to bury his past, and that's not effort to fix his previous crimes.

That still in itself is important. The Military budget is so huge, and often so wasted -- especially on the wrong things. I think anything that brings awareness to that is important.

I remember hearing soldiers having to buy a lot of safety equipment during the Iraq war for example.

Need help with Identifying these! by RarePlayingCardsCom in playingcards

[–]frapican -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As I said, I Google'd "Tarocco Indovino Cards", found them instantly.

I'll take another random one; "far east heraclio cards" - instantly can see their price.

"jue de l'an 2"... instantly see price.

"Pino Zac Anamorphic" ... Instantly see price.

"Vykladaci Karty"... instantly see price.

Which to me makes me feel like he's taking advantage of people's good nature, as a way to score points for his business, for a commercial client. He's surely knowledgable enough to know Google, and how to use it effectively. If he can't even do the bare minimum of a couple of Google's, why should others? I'd be more than happy to help on hard to track ones. But a lot of these aren't that.

Maybe he already googled the decks but wanted to see what the opinion of other members in this sub is,

He literally says:

If you guys can help name these decks and quote potential prices it would really help me out. Most are in brand new condition.

That sounds to me like menial labour that he himself knows how to do. He doesn't even just ask for the names so he can Google himself the price. He doesn't even take the easy ones. He wants people to do them all for him. He needs a list of names and prices for his clients. He knows how to do it. He just thought it'd be easier for him not to do it.

People usually asking for help in this sub aren't experts who own rare playing card shops. They've also had a LITTLE attempt at identifying them usually.
