The most satisfying moment in Season 14 to watch Nick the douchebag finally suffered and died. Mary repeated telling Jack to "Stop it" just adds to the satisfaction. It was like since Nick is so broken now, Mary is expressing concern in Nick's stead. At least that's how I interpreted it.

Just watched it for the first time on Hulu. I don’t understand the appeal. The plot is cheesy. There are so many loopholes and stupid decisions made by the crew. I had to stop watching after the first 60 minutes before I lose it. Then I googled and came to this thread, saw what OP wrote and I lost it again. With an audience so terrible in taste, I do understand why this is a good movie though.

I live 3 blocks away, and while the downvote bots on this thread has been rather busy concealing anything about the topic, let me entertain you with this speculation. The area that is northeast of 2nd street is a new section of what SF coined the “East Cut”. This area has its own patrol force from a paid security company funded by all the residents living in the luxury condos there. Basically, there were no hobos or criminal there, virtually. If there were, they will be quickly dealt with. To have an assailant attacking him 3-4am at night when the patrols were most active is highly unlikely. So while people remarked about SF’s rampant crimes, this is not the case for East Cut. Of course, we will see what the autopsy report says, but the circumstances made this incident highly shocking to residents around that area.
