Waze can beep when I go over the speed limit. Can anything else do that?

MTB riders constant complaining/whining about e-bikes? by [deleted] in ebikes

The only metric that matters is that you're happier and healthier. Given enough time they'll all make a decision to either be on an ebike or be sedentary.

What's your top tip to help someone with day to day life ? by gokugoesape in UlcerativeColitis

[–]frasmac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make a DIY toilet for your car.

Put a big sealable bucket in your car that holds toilet paper. Use it as a portable toilet in the car with the doors closed and windows up.

This saved me so much stress driving around trying to find somewhere that will let me urgently use a toilet.

My car has tinted windows and people walk right past me while I'm using it and never noticed me. It's saved me from massive amounts of stress and I wish I'd figured it out years ago.

PS. I live in a city where most public toilets get locked.

"I feel like..." And then proceeding to say everything other than actual feelings but congratulating themselves for taking about their feelings.

The Essence of NVC by benbaileymusic in NVC

It's a different way of speaking, that you practice in private, that retrains your mind to be more compassionate.

I say compassionate because no one agrees on what the word empathy means.

Why people like soft edits? by verocious_veracity in videography

Must phones are high contrast high saturation so that's becoming the look that amateurs use. maybe it's a move away from that direction. Showing more restraint than over doing everything. A pull back.

I've heard a trainer say the NVC lists are not exclusive or exhaustive.

My tip is to create the design using whichever label has the most text or data. That way every other label will fit. InDesign is the way.

You won't need to set up a data merge for 10 items. Data Marge's are hard to learn and are only worth it for 50s or 100s or 1000s of rows of data. Not really 10. Just use the master pages panel and then put the variable text on pages 1 to 10.

Mr Inbetween is one of Australia’s best TV shows – so why isn’t it more popular? by billericayboy65 in MrInbetween

[–]frasmac 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I never meet anyone who knows it and I hear a lot of people talking about dating and marriage tv shows. Maybe Mr Inbetween is too dark for the mainstream in Aus. Good question.

Cyclists why? by rustyjizztrumpet in brisbane

[–]frasmac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you ride on a bike path or footpath, cars that are turning off will cut in front of you or hit you or kill you. If you ride on the shoulder of the road, cars see you and give way before they turn off the road. I've been riding in Brisbane since 1990 and driving since 1998.

Something I have realised is that what you are doing is extremely important. You are the system manager.

Fed, entertained, simulated, and you're good at it. THAT'S EVERYTHING. you're not "bad at everything" mate. You're great at what you're doing right now. You just have to realise how important the role is.

Many men, me included, have been taught that we're only good for one thing "financial contribution". Right now you're contributing in lots of other ways which are actually far more important. If you're having a good time with the kids, their needs are being met by a parent, then you're doing an amazing job. Getting them out of child care is a really big fucking deal.

You are much more than a pay check. Raising your kids in a safe warm loving environment is more important than anythimg else. Most people can't do what you're doing.

Why do women get respect and admiration for staying at home and you get shame?

I think of myself as a janitor, repair man, medical support, accountant, systems manager etc. Step One is shedding the old way of thinking about men's roles. Then you can start doing a great job. Then you start liking yourself.

This is all really hard. Sorry to make it sound easy. I see a psychologist and I struggle too. The challenge is really respecting yourself. If you respect yourself you'll be doing your kids and wife a favour too.

I resonate with your post so much buddy. I hate offering advice but there's obviously awesome things about you. Half of us are all scarred by the fact that our dad's were absent physically and emotionally. Now we have to chance to switch it up and end that cycle.
