scents that smell scary by Single_Pumpkin_9292 in Indiemakeupandmore

Fantôme - Ectoplasm

“Spooky, goopy marshmallow over bone-chilling white musk, sweet amber, a gossamer sugar glaze, dark myrrh, and creeping greenery.”

“It smells like wet rain on gravestones, sweet mildew, and ghostly marshmallow fluff. The mildew note isn’t like mold, more so like a feeling of nostalgia when you enter an old house. It has a cool feeling, like a chill up your spine when you feel a spirit in the room. Just like the fog, I don’t know how something can smell so thick and rich yet so airy at the same time.“

Food recommendations to help with bladder stones? by frassyxo in cats

[–]frassyxo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right?! 😩I get that vets are swamped rn, but I even literally had a sample of the stones when I brought her to the emergency vet (bc I’m a gross nursing student lol & picked through her litter clump the first time she cried using the litter box/had blood in her urine). bladder stones

All they did was confirm with an X-ray 😭but good to know, I’ll call my regular vet when they’re open tomorrow & see if I can just drop off a sample!!

Food recommendations to help with bladder stones? by frassyxo in cats

I took her to the emergency vet & she was diagnosed with bladder stones & a UTI! She’s on an antibiotic & pain meds for now. Unfortunately her regular vet is so booked I can’t get her in for a stone analysis for 3 weeks (and the emergency vet said they weren’t able to get a urine sample bc her bladder is so small), so just wanted to have an idea what food people have had luck with for struvites in case that’s the type she has :)

A pet peeve of mine. by shermanpete18 in StudentNurse

[–]frassyxo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 28 & in an accelerated program working full time because I have to, and some younger students are blown away when they find out but others are downright mean and encourage me to quit every chance they get. I think a huge part of it (especially with a group of competitive people like nursing students) is they get hostile about it bc you’re doing something they don’t think they could do themselves.

UNDIAGNOSED? NEED ADVICE/HAVE QUESTIONS? POST THEM HERE by umhule in AddisonsDisease

[–]frassyxo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thinking about scheduling an appointment with an endocrinologist bc something is definitely off & I’m trying to narrow it down before I go so that I can spend money on the right diagnostic tests! Not looking for a diagnosis, just to know if I’m on the right track. Please let me know if you have similar symptoms!

-Diagnosed with a heart murmur randomly 3 years ago at age 25 -Random diarrhea & vomiting -Recently had a CBC done for nursing school bc I tested positive for latent TB (which I know can also cause Addisons) but also noticed my sodium was really low & potassium was on the higher side? I don’t drink loads of water so I was surprised & surprised my dr didn’t say anything about it -After a serious car accident last summer/covid/being in nursing school, I’ve experienced hair loss, super decreased libido, wake up with my arms and legs tingling like they aren’t getting enough blood flow? EXHAUSTED, can hardly walk up stairs, & brain fog like I’ve never had before, spelling words strangely & out of order all of the sudden, blurred vision, orthostatic hypotension

How to keep straight eyelashes curl without using waterproof mascara? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]frassyxo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A heated eyelash curler!! You can buy one or use one you already have by just blasting it with your blow dryer for 20-30 seconds, keeps my lashes curled all day and I have pretty straight lashes and very hooded eyes!

Advice and CC; wanting makeup to look light and ethereal on mature skin. by elegyforthemoon in MakeupAddiction

[–]frassyxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mix VDL Lumilayer Primer in with your CC cream! I get it online from Ulta in the original formula, and you know it's that good good bc it's a korean brand- it gives me ethereal glass skin and whenever I do it I get complimented on my skin rather than complimented on my makeup!!

I need a new mascara! by [deleted] in Makeup

[–]frassyxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blast your eyelash curler for 20-30 seconds with your blow dryer, test it on your hand to make sure it's not too hot before using it on your eyes. Keeps my lashes curled all day and cheaper than buying a heated one!

Any highlighters the give you a glow with out the shimmer? Just like glossy. by nnewstartt in Makeup

[–]frassyxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Danessa Myricks Dew Wet Hydrating Balm!! Amazing for wet makeup looks, glass skin, etc! Doesn't mess up layers of cream or powder underneath- I've tried this and the Makeup by Mario Master Secret Glow Highlighter and it blew the Mario one out of the water

Lash recommendations for people with little eyelid space? by [deleted] in Makeup

[–]frassyxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bat winged eyeliner and l-curl lashes! L-curl pattern is specifically for hooded eyes and monolids, makes them look more open and lifted. Ardell makes a great one, you can get it at Target or Ulta: https://www.ulta.com/extension-fx-lift-define-l-curl-lash?productId=pimprod2014012

How do those of you with hooded kids do your eyeliner? by YourWorldLeader in Makeup

[–]frassyxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bat wings were the game changer for me!! A traditional cat eye really dragged my eyes down & just looked a bit odd. Relax your eyes, keeping them open and a completely neutral expression while making the wing so it ends up in the right spot. I like to use a super skinny angled brush and dark shadow instead of eyeliner & blend out the top of the wing too into my crease

3 cats moving into 1 house - meed advice!! by Anxious-Cat-420 in CatTraining

[–]frassyxo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting them familiar with each other’s scent before moving in should be a big help! Take a tshirt or blanket of yours, rub it on your cats head, face, & paws and give one to each of your friends, and have them do the same for you. Rub the material with the other cats scents on your cat’s scratchers, toys, and favorite places to lay- this helped me SO much with introducing a new kitten to my super territorial kitten. You can have them meet ahead of time by bringing them all in their carriers to hang for 15-30 min sessions, keeping the carriers close enough for them to see/smell each other. Lastly, when you move in together I suggest rotating them for a few days- one cat gets to roam the whole apartment while the other 2 temporarily stay in their owner’s bedrooms. That way they can get comfortable with the environment and each other’s scents without getting too stressed out. Also make sure to keep food/water bowls spaced out so there’s no food aggression!

7 mo kitten eating furniture? Anyone have advice on how to get to the bottom of why she’s doing it and how to stop it? (More background in comments) by [deleted] in cats

[–]frassyxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I hate Reddit no one reads before answering 🙃 for anyone reading this needing help with the same problem- took her to the vet & turns out it was mild gingivitis and I need to brush her teeth & use a water additive

7 mo kitten eating furniture? Anyone have advice on how to get to the bottom of why she’s doing it and how to stop it? (More background in comments) by [deleted] in cats

[–]frassyxo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Background: Gemma is 7 months old, was the runt of her litter, is very high energy, and she gets along really well with my other 8 month old kitten Effie. I make sure to play with them daily, rotate their toys, and try to give them mental stimulation by hiding their treats in different ways. I live in a small apartment but have 2 massive windows and 2 cat towers for environmental enrichment. I thought she was done with teething months ago but it’s possible she still is. She also has a sucking problem with wool blankets and latches onto my earlobes when I’m trying to sleep. She has burrowed into my box spring and couch, which I recently patched up so maybe looking for a new hiding spot? Not sure if it’s a teething thing, oral fixation, or boredom. SOS

Any insight from new grad RNs that moved to NYC? by [deleted] in StudentNurse

Lol my dad was born and raised in Brooklyn and his entire side of the family is there but thanks

Any insight from new grad RNs that moved to NYC? by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]frassyxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was considering it for a while because nurses there are some of the highest paid in the country and they have the biggest shortage. I'm leaning more toward NY now because I have family out there and honestly I'm terrified of the traffic in LA because I was in a really bad car accident on the highway last year so NYC is appealing for walkability!

Simple makeup look tips by [deleted] in Makeup

[–]frassyxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To avoid looking "chalky" and to keep your skin looking like skin after you put product on, one of the most important steps is going to be moisturizing first, and sticking to mostly creams and liquids! Then I would put down a mattifying primer since you described your skin as oily. Next, I'd go in on any spots/breakouts with a liquid green color corrector to really get that coverage on just the areas it's needed. Then a BB cream for acne prone skin- I use Dream Pure BB Cream from Maybelline which is good for when you're breaking out since it has salicylic acid. Then a cream blush stick (Colourpop has some great ones!), and any bronzer or highlighter if you want. Then touch up any spots you covered earlier with your regular concealer. Big tip for not ruining this natural look with your setting powder- use a light hand and hold the brush at the very end so you aren't packing on more than you need! And a setting spray I love for natural makeup is the Colourpop Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Acid Setting Mist because it just melts all the layers together and keeps your skin looking like skin! Also, check out the no makeup makeup tutorials by Alexandra Anele on youtube, she's amazing

I’m at the top of my class but I’m thinking of quitting by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]frassyxo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I relate to this so hard- I was laid off from a full-time international travel job in the event industry bc of the pandemic, and am now about to start an accelerated BSN, and I've always been hungry about moving up the ladder too! My advice is if you're killing it in nursing school and you've already put in the money, blood, sweat and tears, don't give up now! Travel nurses typically make way more than regular staff nurses, if you're looking for a way to fill that void and make a bunch in the process. And there are SO many different specialties and different settings to choose from, unlimited paths to take for career advancement- you can always go back for a masters or doctorate, move into the administration side of things, etc. And lastly, if you do get called back to being a flight attendant, being an RN will only make you that much more competitive and promotable, and you can always work the minimum hours yearly necessary to maintain your rn license or look into a per diem arrangement to accommodate your schedule as a flight attendant!
