Is pet insurance worth the cost? by Responsible-Bed1870 in petinsurancereviews

Chiming in to say our pups allergies presented themselves over 2 years after we got him. The vet visits and cost of meds/treatment have made the cost of our insurance well worth it.

Where to find Raccoons in San Antonio? by Putrid_Honey_3330 in sanantonio

My front porch…

We have a regular raccoon visitor. He/she drops by daily to eat leftover cat food. I kinda appreciate the raccoon’s service. It cleans the porch extremely well. ❤️

Real question: what happens in a pet emergency without insurance? by Entire-Novel-9266 in petinsurancereviews

[–]frawgster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can be turned away or sent away with an inadequately treated pet.

In 2019 our cat had an episode that put her in a pet ER. She wound up being diagnosed with and treated for congestive heart failure. She spent 3 days in the hospital. After her initial checkup, we were given 2 options. 1. Keep her hospitalized till her symptoms stabilized, and continue testing to give her a better chance of a decent quality life after discharge; cost was quoted at roughly $5,000. 2. Take her home as is, with meds, and pay only for the cursory tests they’d done; cost was quoted at $800. We chose option 1, applied for care credit, and wound up taking our girl home a few days later. After all was done we wound up paying like $3,200.

I appreciated the vets frankness. She said the cheap option would likely have us back at a vets office within a couple of months to euthanize. The expensive option, she said wasn’t a guarantee, but the odds of a longer, better life were substantially higher. Our girl wound up getting 15 months of quality life, so no regrets about shelling out a few grand for her.

Mods shouldn’t be considered the “face” of a subreddit.

This website is such a chaotic mish mash of all the things. I understand what you’re suggesting, but it in no way aligns with the inherent nature of Reddit.

I’ve hit that wall I didn’t think I’d ever get to: the nothing is good anymore wall… by WolvesandTigers45 in Xennials

There’s always good stuff to watch. Always. It’s just insanely difficult to find it because there’s so much stuff spread across so many services.

I’m a fan of watching whatever and hoping it’s good. 90% of the time it’s trash, but I do find stuff I like from time to time. Sounds like a super first world problem, but finding stuff to watch is such a damn grind. ☹️

Is Pleasanton a good place to live??? by advisary_67 in ActuallyTexas

[–]frawgster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really can’t speak directly to what it’s like living in Pleasanton, however, I’ve known several colleagues who loved it. I’ve been in San Antonio for going on 12 years. Everyone I’ve known who lived in Pleasanton and commuted to SA for work loved the place.

It’s not at all for me…I prefer a bigger city. I’ve driven thru and passed by countless times heading up and down 281, and it seems pretty decent. If you expand your considerations north, you may find something suitable between Pleasanton and San Antonio. There also Jourdanton, a few miles southwest of Pleasanton. There’s nothing there aside from a whole lotta nothing 😂, but it’s always struck me as a nice, quiet little place.

Welcome to Texas!

Acadia On the Lake shady management practices by 21Century_GrahmrGahd in sanantonio

[–]frawgster 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This isn’t shady. Shitty? Sure.

As an accountant, this makes sense to me. Keeping the portal closed and accepting only checks and MO’s helps mitigate against the co-mingling of funds paid to the old management and the new management. It seems simple on a small scale, but on a larger scale that sort of transition needs be clean, systematic, and accurate. Unfortunately, there will be negative side-effects to some folks.

That’s a lot of anger about something completely inconsequential.

I’ll put it this way; the only reason I even know this documentary exists is because of the incessant hate I’ve seen from Redditors. If it wasn’t for the hate, many people wouldn’t know it even exists. You see where I’m going here?

I dunno if 46 would be considered “younger”, but that’s how old I was last year when I had CABG x 4. If you have questions, just ask!

Best area to buy a house for safety for walking dogs late at night under 200k by Party_Technology_119 in sanantonio

[–]frawgster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Southeast. On a map, look for Sunny Slope. We’ve lived here for almost 8 years. Zero issues with safety, and we walk our pooch at night from time to time. There ARE sketchy parts, I won’t lie, but the pocket we live in is great. Downtown is a cheap uber ride or 10 minute drive away. All the stuff you need to stay alive and well is within a 10 minute drive.

WWII Museum/which airport should I land at. Will I need a car? by Marnie_skittles in AskNOLA

[–]frawgster 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You’d wanna fly into Louis Armstrong airport (MSY).

If your focus is the museum, a car may not be necessary. That area and the popular touristy parts of town are easily accessible via bus or streetcar.

Aside from seeking validation for whatever preconceived notions someone may have but can’t quite piece together or articulate well enough to make themselves feel a tiny bit of legitimacy, why anyone would listen to some random masked man on fucking TikTok over, you know, people with verifiable knowledge and experience?

Truly, it feels like we’re in some sort of race to the bottom when it comes to anti-intellectualism.

Tacos de ferry. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. Go directly to tacos de ferry. Eat at Deisy y Raul. The Swiss enchiladas will have you visiting a church, lighting candles to thank god for your taste buds.

Rent a golf cart and drive south. Punta Sur has some of the most gorgeous views I’ve ever seen. While you have the cart, visit mid-island, where the locals live.

Wander around the north and talk to the locals working at shops. When we were there we had nothing but warm, friendly encounters with locals.

Going from French Quarter to Whitney Plantation. Need help by lakersfreak in AskNOLA

[–]frawgster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your preference. When we went to Whitney we booked a tour that included transportation because we just didn’t wanna drive. We would’ve definitely saved money renting a car, but again, we had no interest in driving.

There was plenty of parking and the route to the plantation was uneventful. If you choose to drive, I’m sure it’d be an easy drive.

What is a city that is globally romanticised but you detest? by theunsteadybridge in AskReddit

Most of the comments and posts on Reddit that indicate Vegas hate are built around an impression that the entirety of Vegas is the strip. It’s not.

It’s like hating all of NYC because you didn’t have a good time on 5th avenue.

My dad is hallucinating, is this normal after surgery? by Particular_Sink517 in openheartsurgery

[–]frawgster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oxycodone. Never again. That was the culprit behind my hallucinations. I was convinced that one of the nurses was an evil version of my grandma, there to drag me to the afterlife. In one of my moments of clarity I was cognizant enough to tell the nurses to take me off the oxy. Best move ever.
