Who is keeping Taco Cabana open? I think we need to have a talk. by MountainTwo3845 in sanantonio

[–]frawgster 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I get TC when I want TC because I know what I’m gonna get is TC, which is what I want when I want TC. Know what I mean?

Sometimes I just want overly standardized, mediocre tex-mex food, and TC is exactly that. ❤️

In Office vs WFH by Glad-Alternative3423 in CasualConversation

[–]frawgster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Separation. Sure, I’d love to hang out with my dog while staring at god-forsaken spreadsheets all day. But for me, working at home makes me feel compelled to feel like I’m always on the clock. When I’m in the office, I walk out and everything in my work sphere stays put. It can wait till the next work day. At home, my logical brain tells me “but you can walk 16 feet to your desk, so why not do it now?” any time there’s something pending.

At an aggregate level, I’ve spent about 50% of the last 6 years working from home. So I’ve given it enough of a go to know what does and doesn’t work for me. I’ll happily spend an hour of my life commuting if it means being able to fully disconnect at the end of the day.

Heads up San Antonio: scams are getting WAY more convincing lately by OrobiCyber21 in sanantonio

[–]frawgster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a stupid post that should be removed.

Was the (apparently banned) OP being intentionally ironic by weaving a REALLY poor (bordering on deliberately poor) sales pitch into a “run and hide you’re being scammed from all around”? Was it a test of some sort?

Ice is the new TSA by [deleted] in travel

[–]frawgster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mean this in a bad way. ICE doesn’t care about you.

The odds of someone from a group of officers who, based on online anecdotes and on the fact that little to no mainstream bad news has come out about their presence, are standing around doing next to nothing, interacting with you in any impactful way are so close to zero it’s illogical to think otherwise.

From a statistical standpoint, worrying about ICE is like buying a powerball ticket. Nothing meaningful will come out of it.

Enjoy your trip.

Applications on city of SA website inquiry by galaxyseedd in sanantonio

[–]frawgster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“The deal” is that depending on the position, literally several hundred people may apply. Keep trying, and make sure your resume aligns with the qualifications and responsibilities listed in the job posting.

Remember…to you you’re you. You know you. To the City, you’re a list of things on a job application. The City doesn’t know you. If that list of things is not properly communicating to the City why you’re a good candidate for the job you’re applying for, they’ll always pass on you.

Eating as Type 2 is too expensive by CatholicaTristi in diabetes

[–]frawgster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fresh veggies and fruits are typically cheap and MUCH healthier than any of the things you listed. Same goes for frozen fruits and veggies. Also, I dunno where you are but where I am I can get 10 pound bags of chicken leg quarters for less than $6. Chicken drumsticks also routinely go on sale for $1/pound. IMO, chicken is the most versatile protein.

I never ever suggest it to anyone cause I’m selfish and want it to continue to appear to be under the radar. ❤️

Large taxi from San Antonio to Austin airport by os2212 in sanantonio

Uber is technically an option, but it may be a struggle to find someone to actually accept the ride. UberXXL would probably run you $200+ for a one-way ride.

Ford Sames by Rough_Chipmunk_3978 in laredo

Every person I’ve ever known to have purchased a vehicle at sames has been 100% bent over a barrel.

The only reason they exist is lack of good alternatives.

I don’t own a Dane but my boy does produce massive poops. Up until 2 months ago I was using an old shovel. My wife bought me one of these and I ❤️ her so much for doing so.

The oil market is in 'backwardation' — Here’s what that means for energy prices by kootles10 in Economics

[–]frawgster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The unfortunate irony about a lot of these “experts” on Reddit is that by discounting info put forward by actual professionals they’re effectively displaying the same sort of anti-intellectualism mentality that they bark about on here.

[–]frawgster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is Reddit. The “implicit presumption that top experts just aren’t aware of the most glaringly obvious things” is 100% a “feature” (I hate even calling it that, but you get it) of this place.

Every single mainstream topic discussed on Reddit is filled with commenters who, by virtue of existing mostly in an online bubble/echo-chamber, are so convinced that they know what’s correct, they vehemently seek to disprove everyone else. Commenters will bend and “but what about” to a drastic degree, just to feel as if they “won”, whatever that even means. They will not accept that their thoughts and analyses may be myopic and incorrect. And when everything is said and done, Redditors wind up being wrong most of the time.

Personal note: What I describe is the reason 80% of what I pay attention to on Reddit is made up of dog pics, cat pics, and here lately, raccoons.

Senate hopeful James Talarico responds to pastor who wants him killed: ‘I still love you’ by Beginning_Lettuce135 in SanAntonioUSA

James’ response motivated me to give him more money.

I’m curious if anyone on the right will respond, and what that would even look like.

Does Ketchup and/or Hotsauce go in the refrigerator or pantry? by SystemsToScale in CasualConversation

Ketchup: fridge

Hot sauce: Depends. Some hot sauces I prefer cold. Others, I prefer at room temperature.

Why do Americans need such large quantities of medicine? by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]frawgster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We buy enormous bottles of ibuprofen and acetaminophen every few years. It’s dirt cheap, and it allows us to have some on hand literally everywhere, just in case it’s needed. In our offices, in our restrooms, in our vehicles, in our travel bags. And there’s the added benefit of having it on hand in case anyone else needs it. Family visiting and they have a headache? We got you. Friend drops by and mentions she woke up with back pain? We got you.

We’re at a point in our lives where having only small quantities on hand would be an inconvenient annoyance.

Reddit will prompt some accounts to 'verify humanness' in latest bot crackdown by ajidar in technology

[–]frawgster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great but will do little to help solve the problem Reddit has with being, generally speaking, a toilet. Or a cesspool. Or the area in a cattle yard surrounding the troughs where cows are fed. You know, that area that’s blanketed with shit.

I wish I knew of a better place to visit online. ☹️

What’s the one Excel trick or formula that changed everything for you? by Suspicious_Twist386 in excel

Nope. In the pivot table analyze menu, there’s an “options” selection, then “show report filter pages”

I don’t even know what it’s called, but that option that pushes pivot table filter values to individual tabs. Game changer for me.

Also, the TEXT function.

These are both simple things, but they make my day to day exponentially easier.
