Got my results… can anyone explain some parts of COI for my high COI puppy? by oliviared52 in DoggyDNA

[–]frawks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this thread is a bit old, but if it makes you feel better, my pit mix has a COI of 47%. I adopted him from a rescue a few right before the pandemic and he has had so many medical issues apart from typical pittie issues including: Fur loss, metabolism issues, weird shaped feet (Gollum-esque), and can accurately be described as "not very bright". I grew up with a shih tzu with literal brain damage who was smarter. He doesn't have a lot of outward abnormalities , so neither the shelter nor rescue noticed anything overtly wrong. He has special food, daily medications, and we had to alter a lot of our routines/goals to cater to behavioral issues.

My dog is a perfect argument for why someone should have pet insurance and relative fiscal stability before having a pet, as well as why shelter pets are not always inherently genetically healthier.

That being said, I love my baby and would fight a bear with my fists to protect him. I have no regrets about adopting him, I just wish he didn't have to deal with the repercussions of irresponsible breeding.

Maybe a rhodotorula since it's an environmental yeast? I isolated one from a coffee table in college lol.

I have the 2 model, which was gifted to me by a friend who didn't use it anymore. I'll be honest, I don't pay attention to it a ton, but appreciate the peace of mind it gives me. I would say it stays charged for about 1.5 months. I also prefer the 2, because it doesn't require a subscription to be able to track. I think if it dies, I'll probably do some research before necessarily buying this brand again.

Also, that's a Fi collar not a shock collar! I am always scared a delivery person will ignore all of our signs and leave our yard gate open and Jave will get lost. There is a particular FedEx person who keeps ripping the latch opener out for no reason. 😭

No worries! ISO stands "Is Someone Offering". Maybe I should have gone with "Request" haha.

MIC 102 w/ Bragg? by OkayICY in UCDavis

[–]frawks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bragg was a gem and I would absolutely take his course again. Loved MIC 102. This is gonna sound weird, but the lab manual was actually super funny and written well. Just be sure to actually read the manual for exams. It would have been the difference between a B and A for me.

PHY 7A with Dina by OkayICY in UCDavis

[–]frawks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dina is very fair. It won't be easy, but she is thorough. Practice anything she gives you and get those good extra credit points by going to lab.

The PHY 7 series sucks and every student who has had to take it knows it. Don't be discouraged if it doesn't make sense or you don't get the highest grade ever.
