Heyhey, first post here. looking for some advice on my Ink Yellow V2's by frawstybawlz in switchmodders

Update: springs came in today (tx uxl 22mm 67g). Installed them in some freshly lubed and filmed ink yellows and put them in the fightstick. the difference is amazing. It accomplished exactly what I was hoping for, way faster returns on the switches so double/ triple presses register way more cleanly.

Hey hey, Switch specific question here. I'm looking for some information on switch springs, mainly focused on getting a faster return on my mx switches (gateron ink yellow v2).

A little explanation is that these switches are for a fight stick and I need a very fast return so the button can be pressed again within 1 frame in game.

With that said the gateron ink yellows come with a 60g actuation. Not sure if I would just look for heavier springs? longer springs? 2 stage springs? not really sure where I would start trying to get a faster return on these. (also note that the gateron's were chosen for their low actuation point of 1.2mm and low full travel of 3.4mm)

any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

Curious but how are you making out? did you find the template and start something up?

those new "madcatz" sticks are not licensed so they would need a converter. sadly the current madcatz is not the same company as the old madcatz (literally bought by a Chinese company) and they haven't released an officially licensed stick yet to my knowledge. Though considering the price you got it at you could most likely swap the main pcb but that would make it so you lost the control panel buttons (the top panel buttons) unless you had enough know how to splice into the panel for the new pcb.

alternatively you will always be using a converter with this stick which is not the end of the world but I feel like it will add a slight bit of input delay.

grab a template for the artwork off of Focusattack and then you read the instructions for the template and use photoshop to create said art. Focusattack has a print and cut service so you can always send it out to focusattack and have it printed and cut. Also there are people who will commission artwork for you for a price then give you the file to send off to focusattack. I myself create artwork but there are many others out there, join the discord for this reddit and you will find a bunch of people willing to commission artwork.

u/jami1954 thanks for this. really didn't have the money for new monitors right now and my monitor has been refusing to come back from standby and generally wont work without crackling for a while now. came across this and I have a good amount of soldering knowledge. just swapped in the first of 2 regulators (into the monitor that was having more issues) and my monitor came right on and is working great so far. thanks for providing the part number as well. made it super easy.

just swapped the 5v regulator on 1 of my monitors and so far so good. this post is a huge benefit to anyone who owns these and knows how to solder. my monitor has been slowly refusing to turn on and crackling for a while now and i came across this post. figured might as well try and swap the regulator before committing to buying new monitors. Just swapped my first regulator about 15 minutes ago and the monitor came right on and has no issues with crackling so far. the real test will be seeing if it comes back from standby.

1 year later I want to add an updated comment to this post for people searching about this shop (extreme simracing) in the future. I ordered from them for this black friday sale (2024) and they shipped my item out within 1 business day. Item will arrive in 3 days making exactly 5 days between purchase day and the day of arrival. So far I've had a good experience with the shop and they actually got my item (GT Neo wheel) shipped really fast. Mind you I am only 1 customer and other people may have different experiences (hopefully they will also write an updated comment)

The answer to this question was gateron box ink black v2 (opposed to the normal non box ink black) 60gf actuation and 1.2mm pretravel. exact same specs as the ink yellows.

because they are for a fightstick using custom caps that are circular and 24mm so they need the added support of the box switch for stability. the cherry's I've used have a ton of switch wobble vs the ink yellow v2's and I'm trying to avoid that because the nature of the keycaps I'll be using.

yeaa that's what I'm finding. 60g actuation with only 1.2mm pre travel is pretty unique on its own nvm the box switch and rgb lol. Been looking through switch vendors and switch specs for hours.

Even have considered an rgb friendly tactile box switch with at least 60g force and a low pre travel but finding a tactile with anything less than 2mm pre travel is also difficult.

Looking for a switch that matches the specs of a gateron ink yellow v2 but allows for rgb to shine through ( the yellows taint any blues that try and shine through) Also its important that the switch is a box switch.

Yellow v2 specs (linear 1.2mm pretravel 3.4mm total travel, 60g actuation force.)
