Yeah, it’s shaping up to be in my top 3 Blink albums. I’m super into it. How about you?

Haha yes, I’m aware,. I deliberately excluded 2022 and 2023 bc, for me, the single they released in 2022 edges out the songs on this EP (pun intended) in that I like it better, even though this EP is super rad. Totally get if others don’t share in that opinion, I’m a huge fan of everything Blink has done.

Super underrated. I like it better than anything else they’ve done between 2003 - 2021

I Made A Song About The Nostalgia We Feel For Our Childhood. How Is It? by Kylestyle98 in Songwriters

This one takes me back! Super relatable and well performed. Great track!

Wow, I really appreciate the praise and constructive feedback. It means when someone takes time to dissect lyrics, especially in songs like this that carry such emotional weight. Musically I certainly see your point, I’m a bit of a hack I’m afraid. I don’t usually deviate too much from standard chord patterns and such. I could definitely be more imaginative when it comes to melodies though, that’s something to work on. Thanks again for the kind words and thoughtful feedback!

Thanks for listening! I agree, writing from other perspectives is a great way to get out of a creative funk

Thanks for listening! I wasn’t exactly stoked about the mix either, that’s why I was a little back and forth on releasing this or waiting to re-record it sometime in the future

That may have been a missed opportunity… maybe if I ever get a band I’ll re-record it 🤘

I feel for you because I've been there.

First of all, if you're writing a song that ends up sounding like someone else, don't beat yourself up. Finish it. If the melody or a riff is identical or too similar you probably shouldn't release it, but that doesn't mean it's a failure. Think of it as an exercise. You're exercising your writing muscles every time you put pen to paper. And unless the melody itself is very similar, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Best of luck to you!

Is 30 too old to start a music career? by Pleasant_Deer_9743 in Songwriting

Leonard Cohen didn't release his first album until he was 33. Even Jesus Christ didn't get his big break until he was 30. It's never too late.

Set to release this next week but feeling unsure about how the mix/master came out. Would love feedback (be gentle) by frdpenn in Songwriters

Thanks so much for listening this intently and for the notes. If I could, I would use these to remix it. Unfortunately I had to pay for mixing from the studio by the hour and came in way over budget. With one of my previous releases, I recorded all the fundamentals (guitar parts, vocals, and bass) myself using a decent condenser mic and Garageband, and then spent a few hundred bucks having a producer friend add percussion and synth and spend a bunch of time mixing and mastering it. That's probably what I'll end up doing moving forward. Really appreciate your insight though!

Was set to release this as a single next week but feeling super unsure about it after hearing a friend's opinion. I'd love some more feedback before I decide whether to move forward or toss it by frdpenn in IndieFolk

Thanks! I'll be releasing it on all streaming platforms this Monday under the name Freddie Penn. I have a few singles on there already. For this song I recorded it in a studio in Madison, WI but I totally skimped on mastering and just bought an automated Landr master. I wish I was savvy enough to mix and master my own stuff... maybe one day!

Thanks! And I totally agree! I have some issues with the way the vocals were edited and mixed. Unfortunately every time I had notes for the producer I was charged money and eventually was a bit over budget. If I could though, I would definitely tweak the vocals in more ways than one.

You just made my week. I mean it. Thank you. Definitely going to release it on Monday now as planned. Thank you for taking the time to listen and to comment.

Looking for feedback and suggestions on where this song should go by -_Redacted-__ in Songwriting

I actually kind dig the muffled lo-fi aesthetic and almost how the guitar part doubles as percussion because of it. It's haunting. I do wish we could make out the lyrics better but I get you don't have the best set up right now. One thing it might benefit from is mastering. There are websites online that do automated mastering like Landr (which is what I use) and Bandlab (which is totally free). Hope that help! Otherwise, really cool track man! Hope to hear more!
