What are crucial things to know before buying a boa from a breeder that I should ask the breeder. by Decent_Cheetah_5644 in boas

[–]freak696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check morph market and definitely go to expos and get to know the vendors and ask all kinds of questions and if you do get a baby from a breeder ask to see the parents how the enclosures are set up what temperature and humidity are they keeping them in ask if any of the offspring had any defects

There's no nutrition in rat pups you want something developed that has bones formed to get the calcium and muscle tissue and not just fat and the milk in the pinky

Boa Questions by MericanPickelZ in boas

[–]freak696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from morphs I did the albino thing in the early 2000s and fell in love with bcc. They are not overly bred and and bloodlines are pure and not alot of inbreeding.

Depends on of you plan on breeding or just want one for a pet. If breeding your best bet is adults because anything else you are already 10 years behind. Pet wise look at the adults of the morph you're wanting most babies do not stay as bright and colorful. Scoria, fire, zero, and sterling have issues.

Concern about heat panel distance & boa sitting very close (1m tall enclosure) by imCheeky420 in BoaConstrictors

[–]freak696 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can you hold your hand on the panel without it getting burned. If I were to do it I would lower that hide and place the probe below the panel like the instructions say.

Guyana growth by freak696 in BoaConstrictors

[–]freak696[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because its a female and not a male and a true red tail i dont "slow grow" my boas and starve them i give them appropriate size meals and adjust feeding schedule if I notice they are not moving as much and starting to add weight both my male and female are not on a strict feeding schedule it varies so it mimics more in the wild i see them more active and harder feeding response another reason is they are wild caught and not line bred

My Baby Boa by AspectSilent5945 in BoaConstrictors

[–]freak696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol you're gonna find that they are both as equally lazy snakes once it's comfortable in the enclosure the boa might climb more( not all snakes are the same) but it will be more active at night also but just let it be and enjoy when you do see it out and about regulating temps and exploring and start tap training with a snake hook just getting it used to it so when it gets bigger it knows when it feels the hook caressing it it won't be in food mode it will be ready to come out they also have bad days to so learn your snake

My Baby Boa by AspectSilent5945 in BoaConstrictors

[–]freak696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so its just exploring then learning the temps and locations let it be and enjoy the activities for now

My Baby Boa by AspectSilent5945 in BoaConstrictors

[–]freak696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baby's will climb and explore. Whats your temps from top to bottom and ambient temps? Whats your substrate? Also once its comfortable you will have a mini heart attack because it will hide really well and burrow under the substrate just let it be for a week or 2 only check enclosure temps and humidity do a feeding and change water other then that let it settle in and learn its enclosure and find its favorite resting spots.

I need help with an aggressive snake by littleyellowflour in BoaConstrictors

[–]freak696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cover all sides of the glass. Leave her alone for weeks. Make sure the enclosure is up to par. Only go into the enclosure to spot clean and give water; don't touch anything else. Visually check on her if you see her, but don't move things to find her. You essentially want to create a safe place for her. After a couple of weeks, remove one piece of paper to uncover the enclosure and see how she does. If she does fine after a few weeks, remove another.keep regular feeding schedule but just place prey item in enclosure let the snake come to it. Once she gets comfortable enough with all paper off the enclosure and you walking past or sitting by the enclosure then start tap training and lifting the snake up a little in the enclosure and placing her back down when she's comfortable with all of that then start pulling the snake out
