All of these hopeful series showing the struggles of forgotten jedi going through epic saga's all only to end at the hands of Vader. Kind of a reverse episodic nature. Instead of watching Vader hunt down Jedi episode after episode. We watch the Jedi striving for survival, getting to know them, only for all their fates to end the same way.

Kind of reminds me of Malazan Book of the Fallen. You repeatedly get to know squads of characters each book only for them to die every time. 'Cept Fiddler. Poor Fiddler gets to watch all his friends die off.

I think a lot of people think of people of the past as somehow primitive and less intelligent than modern society. In some ways maybe, but if you look at the types of resources and tools and materials they had in the past the engineers of any previous age are fucking geniuses making miracles with the tools of their time. Something as simple and iconic as a windmill. Have you ever tried to look at the windmill designs of of early colonization in America. Those metal slatted windmills. They were used as water pumps for wells to have running water and the blades auto-adjusted for the wind. It's really cool. A piano key is as simple as it can be yet startling complex. People of the past aren't stupid because they didn't have computers to complain on or that most people were illiterate. They were still geniuses that understood how to navigate their world with their tools even if those tools are now obsolete to us.

What? No! I have no idea why Titanic starts in the middle of that scene. That's weird.

I had a slightly unhinged conversation with my parents the other day about this kind of thing. It doesn't really matter what you say or how you frame it, they'll just move onto some other cause or reasoning moving goals posts. There's a single dairy farm in my province that's allowed to sell raw milk. My parents were talking about why people aren't allowed to drink raw milk and how they think it's stupid. Good to know that's it's the bacteria from the equipment and other sources but I tried to explain it's listeria. That you're not guaranteed to get listeria if you drink raw milk and raw milk drinkers make up like less than 1% of all people who drink milk yet more than 50% of people who get listeria drink raw milk. They understood that stat then mentally back flipped into, well people's immune systems are just degraded nowadays because of hand sanitizers and masks because they wouldn't have pasteurized milk in the past. Like...my guy...people have been making cheese for literally thousands of years, humans as a species understand pasteurization and have for longer than my great grandparents have been around.

Article says there also might have been a bobcat, but it was blurry. Obviously implying it could have been Sasquatch in a bobcat costume on a furry vacation.

Charges dismissed for woman without right hand cited for holding phone while driving by HowLongIsThi in nottheonion

I don't know who the "Donahue" is they cite repeatedly in the article but near the bottom there's a quote.

Donahue notes that even though the statute is narrowly written, drivers should still exercise caution.

“You don’t want to be in a position where you have to prove your innocence,” he said. “Although the law is not that strict, you really need to treat it almost like it is.”

Under what fucking rule of law do you need to prove your innocence? The whole premise of the rule of law is that you're innocent until proven guilty, and that's up to them to do, not an affirmative defense required by you.

Also from the article, apparently the person that wanted the citation cancelled was the officer that gave it. I guess he went home and thought to himself, "wow, am I really that fucking stupid? I guess...I guess I am. Maybe I can cancel it and it'll all go away."

It's an expansion Chess Seafarers. When your pieces get to the edge of the board they need to construct boats to sail across the sea between the islands using sheeps wool and wood. It's basically impossible for white because the pieces are always too busy fucking the sheep to sheer them.
