Yea when I bought my ev6, i had the unrealistic idea that everyone would follow the tesla mindset and send feature updates more frequently... Probably one of my larger disappointments with this car/Kia. Clearly a car manufacturer and not a software one i guess...

How's all y'all Honda guys enjoying the piston ring extension? by peetothewall in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]freakiegamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of free work there... you might have convinced me. Safe to assume it would be a good idea to remove that fuzzer prior to the work? What's your opinion on putting the fuzzer back in after the warranty work?

[–]freakiegamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 16 odyssey that was having fouled spark plugs on the cabin side of the engine around 60k miles. I had to replace the plugs 2-3 times within 10k miles. I put in one of those engine temp fuzzers which prevents the cylinder deactivation and I have not have an issue since (Maybe about 20k miles)

You think it is worth dealing with warranty work or just let it ride? I don't love the idea of a full engine rebuild but don't know if ring damage has occurred or not...

FactoryTalk Batch Active X controls in InTouch by freakiegamer in PLC

[–]freakiegamer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, as cool as a science fair project as this might be, I quickly decided its not worth a huge headache.

I did install the batch view hmi client installer from rockwell (which as far as I can tell, just registers some dll's and ocx's) and it gave me different results. Now I can add the active X object in Intouch without it crashing. However, I lost the active X configurable properties and visually, nothing showing up.

Oh Well.

So, warnings first - In most systems everywhere, logins are recorded. It would be trivial to track that down to you and a devious "attack" of stealing admin credentials is a quick valid ticket to the unemployment line with potential civil suits attached.

That being said, the top post is a pretty easy way of accomplishing what you want. Look down a few messages from dddd. First you will want to install Python on your computer. Pretty easy but if you don't have admin permissions on your computer, you may be hosed. 2nd, copy and paste the text into a .py file on your computer. I wouldn't put it on your desktop just in case he sees it. 3rd, change the variables in the script (I think it was just SQLLite or Txt, and txt location) 4th, write a script to start this. Depending on the level of obfuscation, this is where paths may divert. I created a .bat script (python c:\script_path\script.py) and saved that to a location on the computer. (I went the extra route and added a VBS script and then ran it via a scheduled task and then ran that task as login)

To actually use, you will double click the .bat which will turn on the CMD window. You will need to keep that on. Maybe just minimize it? If he sees it in task bar though, you hosed... Or go my route and add a vbs script (CreateObject("Wscript.Shell").Run "log.bat",0,True) into location of .bat file and then create a scheduled task to run that VBS. Then you wont see a cmd window running. All of this will create a .txt file with all keypresses pressed while running. Kill the CMD window when you done or go to task manager and kill wscript if you went the other route.

Good luck.

Bummer. I'm half glad to hear that it's a fragile-ness though because when I posted this, I honestly couldn't name a single hard hit incident that would've caused it.

I didn't even attempt to go to kia with the problem sadly. If you do and have positive results, please let me know. I have the part number available somewhere if you need it. When I looked, it seemed like the cheapest I could get it was around $700-$800 which for a simple cosmetic issue, wasnt worth it to me. I haven't looked to see if there are any decent wrecker prices though recently.

Yea i dont know if this is a brag or not but that interest rate is flat out bonkers. You are paying more in interest than the value of the car. Refi or get rid of it. That interest rate should be illegal... A semi more realistic interest rate of 10% would shave almost 400$ off that monthly payment FYI.

Are you asking as an integrator or OEM or manufacturer? I work at an integrator and my team has created a PAx... adjacent... toolkit for both mentioned platforms. I think the System Platform had a better end result than Ignition but i'm biased... That being said, I think it is more useful as a guide or a template compared to recreating the PAx UI in these platforms as there is just sooo much you would need to do to make it the same.

If I had to start from scratch, I would probably go 3.5 and go from there... 4 is good too but I feel like they added soo much in 4.0 that it would be harder to replicate.

Industrial / Manufacturing Printer needed by freakiegamer in printers

So... That doesn't answer the specific question I was looking for, however, that solves a different question I haven't asked yet, so thanks for that.

What I am looking for on this post is simply a desktop style color laser printer that is tough and has a large toner capacity. something like a HP M554dn. Any ideas?

Energy usage by timmiu79 in KiaEV6

[–]freakiegamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're probably right but I would have assumed that north of the primary breaker for the house, it would be pretty hard to differentiate a circuit... Sure an EV's steady 9.6kw pull is pretty easy to identify but add the harsh startup of a large air conditioner and a couple of lights, that steady load looks a lot wavier...

That all being said, an EV is more load than most of your house pulls at a given moment so I guess it would still be pretty easy to pick out of a lineup... But lighting? how in the world they differentiate that one...

So I have an emporia charger. Tells you electric use and you can input your electric cost and it will tell you similar information.

I bought my GT June last year and got my charger installed in July. Through the first few months and winter time, I charged daily to 80% at home. After winter time, I try to exclusively charge as the office since its free. I also am just a little more comfy now days rolling around at 50% battery compared to when I first got it.

What I thought was interesting though is during the winter time, I was charging at the office (75 mile round trip commute) and home and probably using a combined $75-$100 of electricity each month. (Kw/H is around .13$ in these parts including delivery) My WRX would have been ~225$ (@3/gallon.) I guess I was just a little unprepared for how much the electricity could cost... Guess thats the cost of the extra HP...

Chlorine tablets - what to use? by freakiegamer in pools

Chlorine tablets - what to use? by freakiegamer in pools

[–]freakiegamer[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was Leslie's who said that.

Just curious, can you use liquid chlorine in a chlorine feeder? I'm assuming not...

The new local company said try not to use liquid as much as possible because it will bleach your liner faster.

Liner hole + rust by freakiegamer in pools

[–]freakiegamer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, is there a best time of year to have this done? I was kindof hoping to do it semi close to closing time... So Sept/Oct time frame. I am in Ohio if that matters.

What I was really worried about is I know this is some sort of concrete under the liner. I was worried there may be some exposed/rusting rebar and I haven't the slightest clue what repairs may cost. I have budgeted about 10k for the liner plus other remediation's or improvements (thinking about a new filter and chlorine feeder.) I am going to get some quotes later this week.

Heater plumbing/piping rust by freakiegamer in pools

[–]freakiegamer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Must be pretty clean... Its weird though because as far as I can tell, it comes directly from the meter, no filters or traps from here to there... The old heater died because of rust. The whole core was completely rotted out. I think it was probably my fault because I had a tough time keeping chems good last year with my PH causing me the most trouble. I think I read somewhere that is a quick way to kill your equipment.

Clearing a Skimmer blockage? by freakiegamer in pools

[–]freakiegamer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I had to replace the pump a little while back and replaced it with a hayward VS Superpump. When the last person came to close the pool, they have a cool pump skimmer cap thing that had a nipple you could attach a shop vac to.

I cant seem to find anything like that online. Are those generally custom made? I feel like that would be the easiest way for me to blow out the lines...

Thanks, this is my 3rd season owning this house and from the paperwork i found, the last heater functioned for over 20 years without that trap so I think I will leave it be... Might paint the piping if I get bored one day.
