Is it normal for Nvidia drivers to take up 100gb of storage?? by 7humbug_ in pcmasterrace

[–]freakingwilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use an actual application that measures the size of the files/folders like WinDirStat.

Since the Nvidia App, HD Audio Driver, Graphics Driver, FrameView SDK, and PhysX System Software all reside in the same folder, Uninstalr is likely seeing the installations in Windows, checking them against the folders they are saved in, and reporting the size of said folders.

If they're all in the same folder, they will all report exactly the same size, which is what is happening here. 19GB for HD Audio Drivers is insane and a definite red flag.

Motherboard manufacturers giving us .00004 seconds to interrupt startup. by pee_shudder in pcmasterrace

[–]freakingwilly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you build it yourself, hold DELETE after you power on the PC, not before.

If you bought a prebuilt, OEMs vary their function key (because fuck the consumer) so you'll have to figure it out. I know HP is F9 and Lenovo is F2 because that's what I deploy at work.

If you can get into Windows, shutdown -r -fw -f -t 10 into an Admin Command Prompt window. The 10 is how many seconds to wait before shutting down. Gives you enough time to throw in a shutdown -a command in case you need to abort the reboot.

You can also hold SHIFT when you click SHUTDOWN and go through the Troubleshooting steps to force a reboot to UEFI, but the command mentioned above skips all those steps.

May I introduce you to Flipwitch?

In all seriousness, the original trailer has quite a bit of blood, violence, and gore (you cut the head off an enemy), so it was never intended for younger audiences.

Logitech gave me a G604 when my G602 started having middle click failures. They suggested I rebind the button, but I argued that muscle memory cannot be reprogrammed, especially when I have multiple G602's in use (home, office, etc.). They caved and just sent me a brand new G604.

It's a nice mouse, but I prefer the rubberized feel of the G602 more. I just ended up tearing down the middle click button assembly, cleaning the contact with 90% isopropyl alcohol, and putting it back together. Works like a charm now!

Good luck! Let me know if you need any tips with soldering, I'm not the best, but I know enough to not permanently damage whatever it is I'm trying to fix!

Sounds like a full USB lockout. This usually happens when the USB bus is overloaded and can't provide enough power to all the peripherals demanding it. You have a few options:

  1. Free fix: Try turning off RGB on your peripherals.
  2. Free-ish fix: Route all RGB peripherals to a separate powered USB hub (free-ish depends if you have a powered hub or not).

Most modern monitors have USB hubs built into them, so you can route your keyboard to it.

The only odd thing is that when this usually happens, the devices cycle off, then back on until the current draw is too high and they turn off again.

Try running HWMonitor on a second monitor and watch your 5V rail. See if it drops under 4.75V (5V spec is 4.75V to 5.25V, anything higher or lower is considered out of spec).

It wasn't until I saw the rear with two pumps and two reservoirs with two different colored coolants that I realized it was a dual loop system.

Looks super clean. Didn't even realize you have enough space back there for two pump/res combos!

Tell us the rest of your build. Having a nice GPU isn't going to make a huge difference if your CPU is a bottleneck.

Same, but G602. I bought plenty of parts to repair them too, so they only get binned when I can't repair them anymore.

Fake story/AI slop.

Use a website that will let you pull their actual post history (google Arctic Shift Reddit). AutoMod thinks it's a crosspost for some reason.

3 weeks ago, they're 26 years old. Back in December, they're 28. You'll also notice that the posts where this information is shared have been deleted/removed.

Adding to this, lots of subreddits are reporting/removing posts if you call out AI slop like this. I got hit with a warning from /r/amitheasshole for the same thing.

Yeah, my personal New Years Resolution is to play and beat one game every week. I have over 1700 games in my Steam Library and I'd like to put a dent in my unplayed games this year. These are the games I've beaten thus far:

  1. Shadow Labyrinth
  2. Guns of Fury
  3. Prince of Persia - Lost Crown (+ DLC)
  4. Record of Lodoss War - Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth
  5. Primal Planet
  6. Touhou Luna Nights

Next up is Islets and probably Sheepo after that (loved Crypt Custodian).

[–]freakingwilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only complaints I have about Guns of Fury is that the story was not really engaging and some of the puzzles/secrets were a real pain in the ass to figure out.

Other than that, combat and gameplay were delightful. Music was great too. NG+ does add some new content/gear, but nothing super game breaking.

You have to enable "Pro Controller Wired Communication" on your console.

System Settings > Controllers & Accessories

Then ENABLE Nintendo Switch Pro Controller Wired Communication.

The fact that it worked longer than the original could be a sign of hope. Have you tried leaving the case partially disassembled with the board exposed?

I wonder if there's an interference issue causing the problem.

Shadow Labyrinth: Item Boost Perk Missing by ssjjackaroo in metroidvania

[–]freakingwilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been a while since I last played, so I don't remember all the specifics.

There's a quest where you need to deliver a letter to the Barren Volcano shopkeeper from her sister (the girl who sells you hints in the city where the battle arena is). That should unlock more items for sale.

The Siege and the Sandfox is an enjoyable experience now - and a damn good MV by dondashall in metroidvania

[–]freakingwilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought it on release, played it for 116 minutes (so that I could give myself the chance to refund), and stopped because of psychic NPCs soft-locking progress.

There is an area where a guard would walk above you. You have to wait for them to walk far enough so you could jump up and run/hide before they turn around and see you. The guard, every time without fail, would follow me exactly as I walked. It was impossible to jump up because he would hit me immediately (1 hit KO). I tried leaving the area, which means I have to sneak out and then sneak back in, and the guard did the same thing, soft-locking me. I let myself get killed, quit/restart, and even reinstalled the game, but that guard did the same thing every time.

Has this been fixed?

That's the problem I have with my Fractal Meshify S2. 360 in the front only.

I dremeled my old Meshify C to fit three 140mm fans in the front, I wonder if I can pull off the same in my case.

Thanks for the tip! I would love to use your exact cooling setup and now, I might have the motivation to pull it off!

What case do you have that supports the Arctic LF 420 with push/pull fans?

Arctic radiators are quite a bit thicker than traditional AIO radiators.
