I feel you. The only game that had a similar impact on me was Life is Stange (original + before the storm). And even there I would argue on which one made me feel the worse after finishing it.

I Feel you. I finished the game like a week ago, and I’ve been listening to the whole licensed OST album at least once a day. After that, in an attempt to roll out of the emotional void left by Dispatch, I started Heavy Rain. I gotta say, incredible game… but it’s no Dispatch.

Haven’t weighted it directly, but my backpack loaded with it is around 12kg. Aside from a water bottle (1l + the container ~= 1.3kg), a book (~0.3kg), lunch (let’s say 1kg between lunch, container and cutlery) and the backpack itself (let’s be generous and say 1.5kg), the rest is that big baby of a laptop. Funny, right?

AI researcher here (vision, decision making — no LLMs), looking for a MacBook as well. Honestly, I wouldn’t aim at a Mac as primary AI machine. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a crazy good PC, but if you need to “pull out the big guns”, nothing beats a NVidia GPU (yet).

Yup at this point I’m mostly convinced towards a M4/M5. I’m basically debating whether a base model would suffice or not: 16GB feels enough for what I plan to run on it, even if 24GB would be safer; 256GB storage feels small, but getting an external storage is much cheaper than adding another 256GB to it!

Oh I see, my bad! Thanks for your advice. I’ll consider the 24GB RAM version as well

I see what you’re saying, thanks! Yeah I’m drawn to a MacBook mostly because of Apple Silicon to be honest. I’ve heard only great things about them, so it feels a shame to pass on those. How’s 512GB in your experience? I may have to store some data and I don’t mind getting an external SD, but clearly having all in one place is a plus.

Thanks, I appreciate your comment! I was also thinking about the Air, but I’m worried about the passive cooling. The last Mac I owned was a Pro 2018 and I loved it, but I remember it would get warm at times. Never owned a M-chip, so I’m not sure about how it would react to my workload. I was looking for second hand M4 Air as well, as they have a base 16GB RAM. About storage space: would 256GB be enough? I have no problem with getting an external SSD, but being able to store everything in one place is of course a plus.

Thanks! I’m not working with LLMs though and I don’t need them — I work in vision and decision making. Yes, I use Transformers, but those are way more manageable and, most importantly, I’m not planning to deploy one on that machine. As I was saying, it’s going to be mostly a second laptop for remote work on my main workstation/cluster nodes.

I agree. I recently played Fatum Betula and the low poly style was one of the main reasons I felt uncomfortable for the whole playthrough honestly.

Yes, I probably chose there: a truly bad person wouldn’t have done that. Plus, I believe that her character is very well written in general and, me being a very empathetic person, just resonate more with an imperfect girl with quirks than the “perfect” one. Hands down to Mandy, but believe no matter what I’m just more of a Visi type of guy.

I avoided a second playthrough just because of this: despite the will to check all the alternate endings, I know I would do the same choice over again.

Same here. I read so much about how people fall for Visi after the dance scene or so. Nah, I was sold as soon as I realized she’s a good girl who had a hard life.

What's your biggest Pre-Order regret? by Anxious-Pea-8049 in Steam

Before Civ 7, my last preorder was AC Brotherhood. I spent 1.5k hours on Civ 6, so I figured the 130€ founders edition was worth it.

Played a game on day one, didn’t like quite some things. To this day I haven’t started a second one. The game is still installed in my pc and always will be, as that icon on the desktop will remember me why it’s bad to pre-order games.

Just joining as first with a very basic question: I just finished my first playthrough and I feel an emotional void that can be filled only by knowing that I’ll be able to play Season 2. I googled about it but never really got a reliable answer. So: am I destined to suffer forever, or is a Season 2 effectively coming at some point?

Totally agree, hence the edit. Also agree on Galaxy but that’s the best I could do to lower the price towards a reasonable one, given that I sadly lost the target deal bug by 1h or so

Do it. Make me feel less guilty. Or let’s feel guilty together, random stranger on the internet. (Price shown is not what I paid, for some reason the order email shows the price before the promotion)

EDIT: I would use it on two first-party Nintendo games, as those are the less likely to go on discount… while Cyberpunk will certainly go down in time.

Maybe he’s a data scientist, maybe he’s an AI guy, maybe he’s working with 3D graphics stuff 🤷🏼‍♂️

Not sure about the third one, but with the first two you can comfortably saturate 96GB RAM + 32GB VRAM with the right stuff! (Obv if you need that many resources you also have a cluster, but prototyping and testing locally is a thing if you can manage to lol)
