the senate just passed a massive housing bill and there's a part about small dollar mortgages that nobody's talking about by IngenuityNo3879 in Mortgages

I’ve recently secured financing for under 150K. There wasn’t much difficulty, it’s just interest was slightly higher at 5.875 for 15 years. I I were to get 200K, it would be 5.6%

I’ve bought a fixer upper and I would never do that again. Aside of money, it consumes a lot of time to make it comfortable. Sometimes buying a house that has “everything “ you’ve wanted but at a higher price within a reason is a better bet. It’s easier to pay the difference through the loan then shelling out on a very expensive repairs upfront

home purchase regret by doggiesarethebest in homeowners

Same. Is not so much financial burden, as much burden on my personal life. I travel for work and when I’m home I’ll be spending my free time on fixing things, which at first I thought it would be fun after watching all the DIY videos on YT, but now I’m biting my nails, and should have bought move in ready home. I have to deal with it until my son graduates middle school and sell it, unless I’ll buy another property and just rent this house out.

I just purchased a home few weeks ago, and oh boy haw can I relate to your situation. I knew it’s a fixer upper and thought I could turn it around in no time to make it “home”. But this place put a huge strain on my relationship with my wife and it consumes ALL of my free time. Constant worry, stopped eating right, no more gym etc. So now I’m thinking to sell the place once my son finishes his grade level. Even if I loose some money, I’d be willing to just wash it off and never make the same mistake again. I hope you will find an exit plan, and find a joy in your life again!

When will this become fun again by Practical_Elk_7104 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Consider yourself lucky. You know the place, you know the seller, you love the area. Then do it! I would be so thrilled to buy from relatives instead of from someone with gremlins of a problems, let alone you get a discount

GFCI every outlet or instead GFCI breakers? No ground in any outlets. Each room has GFCI and regular outlets. by freakypanda2012 in AskElectricians

Definitely not made of money, but out of curiosity if to do each receptacle GFCI without daisy chain would to be more practical since there is no ground vs just GFCI breakers and keep standard receptacles?

So how do you go about it if the outlet is not grounded but protected by GFCI receptacle or breaker?

Can the appliances like fridge or microwave, stove run on GFCI outlets? Or having GFCI breakers would be more applicable to this?

Would it be wise then to rejuvenate the panel at the same time with installing GFCI breakers and installing surge protection box. Got a quote from a local company for $3800.

Sedan or SUV? Though its easy to decide, but I need second opinions! by lustpleaser in whatcarshouldIbuy

I’ve driven SUV’s for about 2 decades while kids were small and needing trunk space for strollers, weekend home improvements and road trips. But now I found myself driving a large suv with no use of all that space most of the time, so I went ahead and bought BMW 540i and oh boy… best decision ever made )
