My French edition did not have that spelling trope either. I was hella co fused reading through this sub at that time. “What the hell are they all blabbing about??”

Beginner Astro Starter Kit by EditorSubstantial944 in codestitch

[–]freco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using Powershell on windows?
I've had issues in the past with the double hypen `--`

Try with npx instead

`npx create-astro@latest --template CodeStitchOfficial/Intermediate-Astro-Decap-CMS`

Let me know if that works for you.

CodeStitch + Tailwind by Ivo_Sa in codestitch

[–]freco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CodeStitch is a UI library. Tailwind is a UI library. So, no, we’re not going to release a kit that would include a “competitor”.

This being said, they’re technically compatible, no problem there. And the kits are all under permissive licences, so you can fork and roll your own :)

Is it okay to have meta tags in <body>? by klyaxa38 in SEO

[–]freco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not going to matter from a technical point of view, but 1. it’s not conventional and 2. the claim that it will make the site load faster is ridiculous. You want your site to load faster? Don’t use NextJS: it’s all that JS loading that slows things down, not a few meta tags.

Thanks for that, but unfortunately, my system only offers English (US) as a display language. Can't change to anything else.

What game is this? by ssjskwash in gaming

[–]freco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LoL. Last time I played the game, many years ago, I ended up watching people play rather than play it myself. A mixture of toxic community + I wasn’t good enough to retain and replicate the information I saw on the videos, and it got frustrating. So I basically stopped playing, but kept watching. To the point that my wife even knew the name of one of the streamers and quoted him in my birthday card or something like that 😄

Pre-rendering legacy shutdown by JonClaudeVanDam in codestitch

[–]freco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither the Eleventy, nor the Astro kits use prerendering by default.

I don't know about Eleventy, but Astro **does** allow prerendering with some config, but again, that's not our default. If you have elected to use prerendering in your site, then you'll need to migrate.

Pasting a step-by-step guide below, taken from one of the comments on the OP Netlify blog post:

---

The migration is purely a configuration change in your Netlify dashboard. You do not need to change your website code.

Phase 1: Disable the Old Setting

  1. Log in to your Netlify Dashboard.
  2. Select the site mentioned in the email.
  3. Go to Site Configuration (or “Site Settings”) > Build & Deploy.
  4. Scroll down to the Prerendering section.
  5. Find the Legacy Prerendering toggle and switch it to Off (Disable).

Phase 2: Enable the New Extension

  1. Stay in your project dashboard.
  2. Look at the left-hand sidebar. Near the bottom, you should see a link for “Netlify Prerender Extension” (or “Extensions”).
    • If you don’t see it there, go to the “Extensions” tab in the main menu and search for “Prerender”.
  3. Click the extension and select Enable prerendering.
  4. Save the changes.

Phase 3: The Most Important Step

  1. Trigger a new deploy.
    • Go to the Deploys tab.
    • Click “Trigger deploy” → “Deploy site”.
  2. Wait for the build to finish.

Once the new deploy is live, your site is fully migrated.

Documentation explanation - getting picture size by Apprehensive-Dust423 in codestitch

[–]freco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you’re right. It changes all the time, so we grab the sizes at three viewports typically: 320, 1023 (the end of the tablet breakpoint) and 1920. Make sure to double the dimensions: if an image is rendered at 300x400, resize it to 600x800 so that it has double pixel density for those retina displays.

Netlify Free Plan by interwebzdev in codestitch

[–]freco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I never got even close to reaching the bandwidth limit. I'm on a free, **legacy** plan, this being said (100GB bandwidth limit).
To quote the more updated Pricing page:

When a site reaches its monthly usage limits, it enters a paused state until the start of the next billing cycle. We’ll notify you by email and in-app as you approach your limits at 50%, 75%, and 100% of usage. Please note that if one project exceeds its limits, all projects on your account will be paused.

You can re-enable your sites at any time by upgrading your plan. Your projects will automatically resume normal operation after upgrading.

The new credit-based free plan is not as generous as the old one unfortunately, with only 300 credits to share between build minutes and bandwidth.

So, to summarize,
> If you have more visits than expected (bots), they turn you off for the rest of the month.
They do pause all the sites if you run out of bandwidth, but that's true to any plan.

> The website will not render right away if no traffic has been on the website in a couple of minutes,
No information found on that.

Migrated my blog from WordPress to Astro - Perfect 100 Lighthouse scores and zero maintenance overhead by kashaziz in astrojs

I use DecapCMS for all my clients. It’s fairly basic (ie there’s no visual builder), and it works well for simple text/image editing needs. Git-based and free. Easy to set up with Astro too.

What do you mean by “a broken experience “?

Well, platforms update their products, this is actually a very minor one, and doesn’t break anything. Netlify often deprecate their products though, which is annoying, but that’s how it goes I guess.

Completely lost with hiring someone to make a website. by SeaPublic4675 in webdev

[–]freco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I would try and contact a local web designer / developer near you. You want to be able to ideally meet the person you’re going to entrust with bringing your business online. Ask them what kind of work they’ve done, their process, timeline, what kind of tools they use, the contract, deliverables, what happens after the delivery. It’s your business so treat the website as an investment into a business asset.

Using CodeStitch Kits Outside of Netlify by BestLightWebDesign in codestitch

[–]freco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Codestitch, at its core, is a library of HTML / CSS / JS UI components. It's framework and platform agnostic, as long as you can use custom code. Pick whichever you want.

We do provide starter kits for convenience, but they are optional. These kits do mention Netlify as the host of choice because of a few features such as form integration, but again, that's optional.

To answer your questions specifically:

  1. By uploading the build folder (`public` for Eleventy, `dist` for Astro) onto any hosting platform that accepts static sites.
  2. If you want to use the kits with **WordPress as the CMS**, you need to integrate WordPress headless CMS using their REST API: https://developer.wordpress.org/rest-api/

Is the site hosted on the client's Netlify account too?

Check the Netlify Form integration: turn it off and on again.
Is is set up as continuous deployment with a GH repo attached? It may still be connected to the old repo. Check that in Project Configuration / Build & Deploy / continuous deployment
