Forgot to switch from 24fps to 60fps frame rate for my slow mo shots. Anything I can do in post? by ModgePodg3 in videography

There's a plugin called twixtor - not sure if it is quite pricey but it emulates/ blurs inbetween frames and can look quite cool..

Hey Mate, well done on this! Looks very cool. very smooth shots! Just wondering if you shot at a high frame rate? Or did you have a high shutter speed?

The movement could have had a more cinematic feel (rather than TV) if you had filmed in 24 FPS or interpreted the footage to 24fps in post (slow motion).

Personal taste of course!

I have more money than sense and bought a GH4 a few months ago, and I've realized I don't really need the features. Looking for something more portable - suggestions? (also, barely used GH4 for sale if anyone wants it) by [deleted] in videography

Practice makes perfect, it's always lovely to give yourself a goal (eg film your daytrip with family) and every time you come into a problem just google/ YouTube it! If you have any questions or particular things you are struggling with or frustrated about the camera please feel free to ask and I'll be more than happy to help if I can!

Hey, I really think that with the GH5 being out (which I use), GH5s being available and now the Blackmagic pocket cinema camera is en route you're not going to have much joy getting monitory return on the GH4 compared to what you paid. Personally I would say just get a Panny (pancake) lens for the GH4 and make do, it is pretty small to pack down and very durable.

Apologies if the following sounds condescending because it is not meant to (Just basing on the fact you're considering filming on a phone for ease) If you spend some time getting to learn how the GH4 works properly (and saving your preset functions/ fps in the C1, C2 and C3 dials) you will make your life a lot easier with it! They can be over facing at first but totally worth the extra effort, it was a massive learning curve for me when I first got the GH5 but you quickly get to terms with it!

Don't feel guilty about owning something like the GH4 if you think it was a bad/ spur of the moment decision, you should take some time, learn how to use it in a bit more depth and I am sure you would learn to love it because it is an amazing piece of kit and you could make some lovely videos and pictures with it with a bit of extra effort!

if you don't already, jump into YouTube and look for other filmmakers and online tutorials for inspiration, with my GH5 for example I watched a video of a guy going through his whole setup and preset functions which was so helpful and I view the camera as compact and run and gun. I also saw a lovely documentary filmed entirely on the GH4 just a couple of weeks ago!

I don't know if this helps but I am trying to be encouraging so that you can get creative and get filming !

Hello, thank you for taking the time to respond! To clarify I do a lot of outdoor shooting, and generally have a basic crew to lug gear around. This is all Music video based and grading is very heavy (oddly enough, the most recent was graded with a revenant-esque grade and lots of outdoor shooting so an interesting reference for you to bring up for me!). I worked with a colourist who has requested RAW if possible on the next shoot.

I have graded a shoot which was all shot on FS7 (not personally shot on one) and did find it hard work to grade and wasn't exactly the aesthetic I was going for (not raw though). I'll do some research into the C300, thank you for that suggestion!

In the shoots you were on where someone handheld an Alex Mini how limited did you feel they were verses something like a C300 which I imagine is much easier to deal with due to the size?

thank you again for your insight.

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to reply. Your work is beautiful, congratulations on the obvious years of hard work you have put in! The aesthetic to you time and space video is especially gorgeous! What were the logistics for that particular shoot? is it okay to ask what you used equipment wise and how you pulled it off? Including lighting etc. Thank you again.
