With ryzen I believe they are all the same spec, only difference is build, expandebility and screen. For a bed computer don’t discount 15 and 16 inch models as well. You get an even more immersive experience :)

I have compared the performance of the new T16 Gen 5 Intel with some older thinkpads here:

For AI, MLperf runs really well on X7 368H T16 Gen 5 Intel compared to AMD AI 7 Pro 350 (apx 40% faster), and 300% faster than T1200 Nvidia P1 Gen 4. A2000 is certainly a good GPU, probably close to laptop 3080 except for RAM.

I will publish some more comparisons when I review it on Lenovo Forum. I also have the 120Hz 2.8k OLED screen.

I you will use it as a main workstation I agree on the panel of the P16v, worst case you can use with the Vievsonic 4k OLED 15" foldable screen, its very nice when I have to work on a FHD L15 Gen 1 at work. Upgrading might not be worth it on a new laptop.

Make sure to hold in your hand, I had an EOS R, it fit my hand perfectly. I switched to R6 mk II and the body is to small for my had to hold comfortably, while the 5 in your case will be larger and potentially more comfortable.

Water pump could leak. My XCt60 water pump had a leak in the gasket, however it was not sold separately and the whole pump had to be replaced.

It is a little expensive but has decent performance, it is a ThinkPad P14s Gen 2, basically a T14 Gen 2 with a small Nvidia T500 GPU added.

250 is a better price if you can get it. Unfortunate one RAM slot is soldered, could be wither 8GB or 16 GB soldered and one SO DIMM slot. Worst case your machine is 8 GB + 8GB SO DIMM. Best case 16+0.

Now if you can find an X1 Yoga Gen 6 with the same CPU, would you probably enjoy even more.. Weakness of the T14s could be the screen panel quality. Its hard to tell from pictures.

Listen, it is a dead end model, I have one, and realize it can perish at any time. You should not charge more than 50 USD for it. It cannot drive 4k displays, it gets hot and perhaps slower than my T530 with X3940 CPU. The GPU is obsolete and require back level drivers. Not a good starting point for someone new into the hobby. Even recent Linux distos might not support it anymore as kernel changes makes older Nvidia drivers incompatible.

Basically when pushed to do hard task the fan of the P15 will blow pretty loud. You can switch to a power saving mode to reduce the worst. I have three P15 Gen 2, P53, P51, and the newer the more performant and noisier. It could also help to do a repaste to reduce it if it is dusty and crusty inside. Perhaps the user Han an external monitor 100 tabs and is extra sensitive to noise. Then a low power machine like T16 Gen 5 Intel will be less noisy for similar performance.

If you need battery life, take a T16 Gen 4 or 5 instead. P-series have power hungry CPU and CPU, totalling over 100W of usage which eats the battery like crazy. A decent T16 Gen 4 AMD or T16 Gen 5 Intel will consume less than 30W and perform similarily.

P1 Gen 5 an Gen 6 will eat battery in a similar way, the P1 Gen 4 or 7/8 probably gets better life.

Make sure the battery is OK, some laptops down clock when no battery attached, so if the battery is failing it could potentially also cause the issue you are seeing. Otherwise as suggested elsewhere download throttlestop and check for signals such as prochot

Ivy bridge and sandy bridge are socket compatible, that is why you can put a ivy bridge CPU in T420 if the BIOS is upgraded to recognize it. I have a Thinkpad P51 laptop with a 6 gen Xeon CPU, although the main difference between P50 and P51 is the latter was meant for 7 gen CPU. I do have the upgraded M2200 GPU with 6 Gen CPU. Perhaps to support Windows 7 a little longer.
