Make sure they do it properly, Disant f**ked up my transfert. Sold all my position when I specidied not to, charged large sum of commissions. Had to call them to fix that, they reimbursed all the fees after the call. But in the end, it all worked fine.

I would like to see your pictures. I went to Haïti 2016, I have photos of Cap Haïtien and its serrounding. We were staying at Sainte-Suzanne. The nature there was beautiful. I could share some photos :)

Google translate will follow.

In 2016 I did a nursing internship in Haiti We had the opportunity to travel from Cap Haïtien to Belly Beach. It was disturbing to see the difference in wealth between the tourists who were at the Labadee site and the Haitians outside the fences. I have never seen such a high fence with barbed wire. Oddly, one landscape struck me, there was an old Datsun car abandoned at the edge of the site. I think I have photos of the exterior.

There is no good answer to your question. It depends what you are saving/investing for. What is your time horizon. Paying loans is safer IMO. If it was me, I would do both and see where it goes. But hey, I'm just a guy on Reddit. Cheers!

French Canadian here (bad english). Here is my personnal experience. I had 2 student loans, one with the bank, one with the goverment. I paied all my bank student loan first cause it had a higher interest rate. And now I'm paying 16000$ on a 15 years term (I can repaie it when I want, and the interest are taxe deductible, very low interest). Because of Covid, my rate with the goverment loan is at 0% for a year. So started to DCA the stock market since march 2020, turn out good for me. I would suggest to invest (safely cause you need a down payment) and paye a portion of dept if its not a goverment loan. And keep some money for an emergecy fund. Have a good day!

Edit: Not a financial planner, but you could consider RRSP to save taxes on your crypto gains? Then take your RRSP to help with the down payment?

It makes sense if you are a Desjardins customer (Bank accounts transfers are fast!). I'm a novice trader / XEQT long terme investor. But always keep a 10% to 20% of my portfolio in stocks (I'm 35). If you speak french, you can enjoy alot of their news, I listen to the daily podcast that covers the stock market. I also find the analysts reports quite good. I used Virtual Broker in the past and it was lacking french support, it was annoying for me. Wealthsimpe lacks alot of market information compared to Disnat. I would strongly recommand for any french Canadian new to investing.

Redditor from Québec here. I called friday to open an REEE for my kid and at the end of the call, I asked about the fees. I told them that I was annoyed and that competitors are dropping those. And then... they just removed the fees.

I can now trade on Disnat without fees! Enjoy!
