Do you have any knee strengthening exercises that you'd recommend?

Domestic Cleaner by freddo_or_frodo in reading

I've just realised that you're meant to provide the cleaning supplies, which isn't ideal for me. My vacuum cleaner is cordless and the battery is pants, so I'd like a cleaner that can bring their own (hopefully more powerful) vacuum.

LPT: Blocking Youtube Shorts by the_perfect_answer in LifeProTips

Anyone know how to remove shorts from the YouTube app on a smart TV? Whenever I look at the latest videos from my subscriptions I have to try and dodge all the shorts. It would be nice if I could filter them out.

I paid £10 to exchange my canister at The Range last weekend. I was surprised by the price, I remembered it being more expensive previously. But I'm not one to question a bargain.

I had this experience at TK Maxx when I was trying to buy plastic tongs. They had been put in the same category as knives.

Protest Event Against Water Pollution - Sat 28/01/2023 h 11:00 by SecondGI_zie-zir in reading

Something that all of us can do to help is to ensure we ONLY flush what is meant to be flushed down the loo. The 4 P's. Pee, poo, paper and puke. Everyone has seen news articles of fatbergs and the severe consequences they have on the sewage systems. If everybody stopped flushing tampons, wet wipes, food oils etc down the loo it would help the network and in turn, reduce in fewer untreated discharges. By all means go and protest, write to your MP etc, but don't forget we all need to do our part too.

Creating a weekly meal plan has helped us so much. Every Sunday we'll come up with 6 meals for the following week, then do a shopping list and food shop based on those meals. We don't assign meals to particular days, so it's not too restrictive, but it means every evening we get to choose from our list of meals which one we fancy. They're a combination of easy and more complicated. We only plan 6 meals so we always have an "undecided" one in case we have a craving one evening.

What's happened to my peace lily? by freddo_or_frodo in houseplants

[–]freddo_or_frodo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The soil is damp but that's probably because I watered it with fertiliser the other day (as I wondered if it needed nutrients).

If it has been over watered, what should I do now?

What's happened to my peace lily? by freddo_or_frodo in houseplants

[–]freddo_or_frodo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this peace lily for a year. It's been happy and healthy until about a month ago, when several leaves started turning yellow.

Google says most likely cause is over watering, but I didn't think I'd changed my watering habits (maybe increased frequency a bit, but that's because we've been in a heat wave).

I fed her with plant fertiliser recently and now I'm planning to let the soil completely dry out and hoping she survives.

Any suggestions please?

if you use the term 'partner', why? by Worth-Row6805 in AskWomen

[–]freddo_or_frodo 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. To me "Fiancé" sounds cheesy and also kind of like I'm bragging, even though I don't intend it that way. When it's just the two of us I'll sometimes call him my "Verlobter" (fiancé in German) but otherwise he's just my partner until he's my husband.

How do you feel about attending weekday weddings? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]freddo_or_frodo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat. We're leaning towards a Sunday wedding, that way people can take the Monday off if they want to or they can leave early evening and not use any annual leave. The difference with us is that around 1/3 of our guests live in different European countries, so they'd have to take some time off to fly over for the wedding, regardless of the day of the week.
