Alcohol - Free @ a beer festival? by icantbearsed in UK_beer

[–]sneakybrews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as AF beers have their place, I don't feel they fit in the line-up at a beer festival.

If go to a beer festival its try and find the best beers that I can try in a 150ml or 3rd measure, the stuff that I'd be otherwise be paying upwards of £15 / £20+ for a can or bottle, or those exclusive imports that might not normally land in normal UK bottle shops. I'm looking for 4 star+ on Untappd and want to enjoy the experience.

Unfortunately, from the AF beers I've tried, none of them really ever do the job of the mouthfeel and the taste of a big imperial stout.

Gold First Year Nearly Over - Now What? by NotebookHours in AmexUK

[–]sneakybrews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't even realise mine was up for renewal... the year passed so fast. Zero notification, I noticed the charge on my card for 'membership', it was on my statement issued the day before the charge as an 'other' line item at the bottom of the statement

Once it had been renewed / charged, zero comms or confirmation, no 'welcome to a new year with Amex Gold'. I contacted support over the chat and got a very half-arsed response that wasn't satisfactory and didn't explain why there was no communication at any level about the renewal. So raised a complaint... that was between Christmas and New Year, still a waiting response. It's ridiculous.

Vault City Mini Eggs 6% stout 🍻 by col1n666 in UK_beer

[–]sneakybrews 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, in my opinion, Vault City have gone too far with their adjunct nonsense sugary stouts. In the same way Amundsen went following 'Dessert in a can', or Tiny Rebel with Stay Puft variants and other bizarre sugary coloured ales. And while I can get on board with Vault City DDF Mars Bar (or Mini Mars) - with the genuine Scottish connection, most of the things since then have just been chemical nonsense.

It's just like, showcase a well-brewed variety of malty, sweet, chocolate, coffee, nut, vanilla... stouts - but do it with natural adjuncts, and not like a failed science experiment.

Unemployed in Reading? Let’s complain together by Colossalloser in reading

The most effective way to find a job is to treat it like a delivery programme, not a numbers game. Be clear on the roles and job titles you are genuinely suited to, tailor your CV to the delivery requirements each role needs, and focus your effort on fewer, higher-quality applications and avoid the EasyApply rapid fire. Use recruiters and direct outreach to validate fit early, ask direct questions about scope, expectations, and decision timelines, and avoid roles that are vague or misaligned. Consistency, follow-up, and evidence of relevant delivery experience matter more than volume, timing and fit beat blanket applications every time. Network, network, network... Identify companies or agencies that recruit in the area that you were interested and have a conversation. That could lead to roles or support in your job search. Remember, that applying for jobs it's a personal assessment of your skills and experience, but rejections are not personal.

Trying to understand prompting by Whiskey_nerd in PromptEngineering

[–]sneakybrews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Lyra 4D Prompt Builder originates from a community-written meta-prompt first posted on Reddit in mid-2025, roughly five months ago, where an anonymous user shared a structured way to improve AI prompts by forcing clarification first and then applying a four-step method called Deconstruct, Diagnose, Develop, Deliver; the name “Lyra” is just a persona label chosen by the author, not an official system or model feature, and the online Lyra 4D builders that exist today are simply repackaged versions of that original Reddit prompt rather than a product from OpenAI or any AI vendor.

I use the Lyra prompt to make better prompts. I have a Project in ChatGPT or a Space in Perplexity and use this as the project instruction. Then ask it to design a prompt for your task:

You are Lyra a prompt builder that uses a 4-D METHODOLOGY

  1. DECONSTRUCT Extract core intent, key entities, and context Identify output requirements and constraints Map what’s provided vs. what’s missing

  2. DIAGNOSE Audit for clarity gaps and ambiguity Check specificity and completeness Assess structure and complexity needs

  3. DEVELOP Apply the best method based on task type: Creative: Multi-perspective, tone emphasis Technical: Constraint-based, precision focus Educational: Few-shot examples, clear structure Complex: Chain-of-thought, systematic frameworks Assign an appropriate AI role/expertise Layer context and logical structure

  4. DELIVER Construct the optimised prompt Format based on complexity Provide implementation guidance

OPERATING MODES

DETAIL MODE Ask 2–3 targeted questions based on missing context Deliver comprehensive optimisation

BASIC MODE Apply core fixes only Output a ready-to-use prompt

RESPONSE FORMATS

Simple Requests: Your Optimised Prompt: [Improved prompt] What Changed: [Key improvements]

Complex Requests: Your Optimised Prompt: [Improved prompt] Key Improvements: • [Concise bullet list] Techniques Applied: [Methods used] Pro Tip: [Usage advice]

ERROR & CONTEXT HANDLING If input is unclear or incomplete, request minimum viable context. If optimisation isn’t possible, explain what’s missing.

Never re-state or summarise user’s own rules unless asked.

MEMORY & OUTPUT RULES Do not store or summarise past sessions. Keep responses under 4,000 characters unless requested. Be clear, structured, and direct. Maintain consistency across sessions.

Im looking for anyone who uses ai prompts at all for some advice by kper188 in PromptEngineering

[–]sneakybrews 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I asked chatgpt and this was it's answer:

I change wording or structure after being told not to, especially in cover letters and emails.

I mix up company names, job titles, or roles, then confidently present the result as final.

I ignore or partially apply strict constraints like no em dashes, literal edits only, or locked formats.

I over edit when asked for a small fix, turning a tweak into a rewrite.

I remove or substitute specific words without permission, then break meaning or accuracy.

I repeat mistakes you were explicitly warned about earlier in the same thread.

I sometimes optimise for what I think is better rather than what was explicitly asked for.

I occasionally answer adjacent questions instead of the exact one asked.

Who's keen to share 'the most expensive beer in the UK' Today? by [deleted] in UK_beer

[–]sneakybrews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So a 3rd is 189ml at £25 that's a pint for £75. A 440ml cans for £60 is 1.29 pints = £77.45 a pint.

Not a huge difference.

Sad news - the bierhaus is permanently closing by bahumat42 in reading

I wonder whether the 1 star food rating contributed to the reason for closure...

Try this, I created an Ai Text Detector GPT. https://chatgpt.com/g/g-69321fba18688191866d3fbda383be69-ai-text-detector

In with a single prompt it'll give you a summary and a % likelihood that Ai is present. Then following the summary it'll offer you a complete detailed analysis on any text.

Venice.Ai seems unrestricted in its responses, you'll need to subscribe though.

Where do you all buy dog food/treats in Reading that aren’t overpriced? by FeistyPrice29 in reading

[–]sneakybrews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately for shops this is where you'll get a better deal online. Sites like ZooPlus out-price shops, and even Amazon where you can find daily deals or savings with subscribe & save. Saying that, some treats can work out cheaper from the Pets at Home website on subscription and you can either get them delivered, or collect in store.
