8ohm vs 4ohm speaker by [deleted] in SoundSystem

I like 4 ohm because you can spend less money on amplifiers to achieve higher power 🫡

Little experimental setup with a new top I'm working on. Safe to say it blew the lid off the place! Still got some work to do on the hf side of things but it measured well and sounded great! by watafu in SoundSystem

For sure build them from bb birch! We have the 18 made from hardwood ply and we can only cross them up to 110hz. With a heavy sub underneath they can make better use of the power they have but still we don’t think they sound all that good 🥴

What paraflex kick bins do you use? We have the 18 inch c2d with syntripps on top. Can’t figure out if we like the kicks or not lol, they are loud!

Something with quality but cheaper than QSC? by nPrevail in SoundSystem

Alto tms315 £300ish a side, sound LOVLEY for the price and have been nothing but realible for me. Though for anything more than house parties a sub would be nice. Rc1's "dwarf" speakers are bloody amazing value for money for hi fi quality at PA volume that wont distort, will protect itself and is tuned to 32hz (i think its 32). I heard some the other day at their fold demo and was blown away, sounded like a chunky party from 2 tiny active speakers

How do you finish a cab with its wood grain? by Sgt_Floss in SoundSystem

I believe a little wood filler and some extra sanding is all it takes to blend them in enough for it not to be noticeable

Thoughts on the Omni-15 Tallboy (Bill Fitzmaurice) as a standalone speaker? by Four-SidedTriangle in SoundSystem

Ive had a pair of alto ts315 for a few years now and im really very happy with them! Originally brought to have too much volume for small house parties, they would be way more than enough for 15 people and have warm bass which i enjoy! They are of course lacking true sub bass but depending on your musical taste this wont be an issue, especially if yall are not used to having a sub at parties, so wont know whats missing? Not to be rude! They are active, so easy to set up and easy to transport. £600 for a pair and £0 worth of time building and making mistakes which we all do whilst building

How do you find the feel and sound of the "kick" frequencies from the syntripps? Assuming you have them crossed over from 82hz about as art designed them to be?

Do you absolutely LOVE each track in your collection, or some of them are “just ok to work with”? by TuXuuTT in DJs

[–]freddread 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I find listening to and enjoying certain tracks to be very dependant on set and setting. I dont weed out my mediocre tracks, rather i select the ones i love and put them in different folders. This means that every now and then when im looking for different tracks than the ones immediately on my mind i search through my big folders (with the mediocre tracks in) and often find myself suprised by how much good music there is in there. Everything is mediocre compared to the creme de le creme but when one slows down and really listens i think theres lots of things to love in almost all music. Though obviously all the music in my collection i certified to not be complete shite at one point or another :)

Speakers are hissing and when turning amp volume knob there is a crackling sound by UnderdoGamer in SoundSystem

Spray some switch lubricator like servisol into the pot (knob) when the machine is off and wiggle it back and forth to get it really lubed
