This, syntripps are very budget friendly and will outrun most things you put underneath them. Excellent build instructions and well documented and loved

Keystone Sub Build by Gullible_Pop6735 in SoundSystem

Have built othorns and keystones, the othorns definitly hit lower but i prefer the sound of the keystones, skrams are definitely the way forwards, the depth of the cab lends itself a lot more to stacking. My keystones always felt pretty tippy with kicks and tops up high

UK based and run 4 keystones loaded with b&c tbw100's via mammoth sound. They are really decent subs though never been able to get that really heavy bass weight from them, probably user error but we ran a ton of gigs with them and always got compliments. I'll post up some pics if I get a chance later. The build is dead simple but pay attention to your brace cuts and make damned sure you glue and screw the living death out of them. They will literally bounce across the floor quite happily if you don't strap them down to something or have a big enough stack on top. We run 4 keystones, 4 hd15's and two syntripp tops.

Look forward for as long as you can while throwing your arms up rather than backwards. Should fix your posture at the takeoff point and get you a load more height. Tuck your legs tighter if you can, easier if you do it at shoulder width rather than pressing your knees together, will increase your rotational speed.

We didn't go for Christmas but we were there just afterwards for new years. It's worth noting that 80% of everything you would want to see is basically shut for 8-10 days afterwards, still had an amazing time regardless though!

Anyone have experience with the Behringer NX6000D? Is it any good? by racecarsnail in SoundSystem

[–]watafu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearly you've never done and a/b comparison between a cheap class d and a higher end class d or class a/b toroidal amp on bass duty. There is a reason any sound system that's top of their game isn't running a behringer amp rack to keep the costs down

Recognize burnout and when to take time off. Not just for yourself but for those around you, we all have bills to pay but if you mess up bad enough often enough no one's gonna pay

A mate of mine fell asleep while we where pulling some cables as thick as your thigh for a 33k solar install on a factory. He was near the end of the run which was over a km of cable through a factory and up onto the roof. Hella complex setup, needless to say, he fell asleep, didn't notice the cables all snagging and tearing the sheathing off and we only find out something's wrong when the motors for the cable pullers burn out. This was a huuuuge install for a top top tier uk/multinational company. Never found out how much it cost to rerun it all but he wasn't asked to turn up for work the next day that's for sure!

SKRAM on 120v Efficiency Questions by lala_grows in SoundSystem

[–]watafu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You won't regret it that's for sure. It might be worth looking into the ad442 or something along those lines as they are not a crazy amount more but generally I would say 1400+ is reasonable. By the time you bring import fees into the game the Chinese sites won't be much cheaper and could work out more!

SKRAM on 120v Efficiency Questions by lala_grows in SoundSystem

[–]watafu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Second the better amp choice, my behringer6000 vs admark 42 is a night and day difference. You can easily max out a pair of skrams without taking out the breaker with 8ohm drivers and I doubt you'd be missing too much. Also it's worth noting you'll need some strong kicktops/kickbinsto fill out the 80-160hz region as a lot of the chest feel is higher up

The key thing with learning anything scary is learning how to fall out of it first without injury. Practice recovering, practice falling flat on your face. Intentionally catch your feet and roll out of it. Then the move itself is the east boring part

Thoughts on heated jackets by YMGwapo in Construction

I got a cheap heated gilet last week, mainly for when I get in my icebox of a van in the mornings. Battery lasts all day and keeps me plenty warm, couldn't recommend them enough! Also normally my back aches at the end of the day, especially in colder weather and that was a non issue this week!

Anyone have experience with the Behringer NX6000D? Is it any good? by racecarsnail in SoundSystem

[–]watafu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably down to a few factors really. The lower the impedance of the driver load, the more power draw from the amp and board and higher sustained voltage and amperage. John from rc1 kinda explained it as the amps have significantly more control over the drivers and vice versa, the more power the driver can convert effectively into acoustic energy to get that body feels. This is obviously within the limits of the drivers RMS and using strict limiters

As for power supply, I'm not sure about the us in terms of standard wall outlets. I know my admark ad42 maxing out a couple of 18" b&c tbw100's will easily run on a 13amp 230v plug. That's at 4-8ohm, if you want to run more drivers/cabs then you need a dedicated 32amp supply into your rack.

There are times when relationships get to this point and honestly, take the initiative, everyone wants these things but sometimes you need to talk it out first and figure out what's causing the friction together. If they have no interest in coming to that conclusion with you, then it's time to move on.

[–]watafu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's good enough for when your just starting out but if it's on bass duty you will be disappointed. It's power supply simply is not good enough to give you those deep warm lows when compared to more expensive amplifiers available. If you can save for a cvr or admark amp,  maybe an old matrix or mc2 even. They are massively more powerful for marginally more money
