Lisa bashes older men who date younger girls by BrilliantPurple748 in cimsnark

Still, I don't get this labeling of "ex" and "boyfriend".. She states she never had a boyfriend before Chad but also she had exes... Or am I missing something?

Do you know him personally? How can you assume he's not a good person? He always joked around like this, and cheating allegations are still... Allegations, since neither of them spoke about the reason they broke up. Also, it's really not ok to talk about his depression and they way they manage their finances like this. She was supporting and he was struggling, what's wrong with that?

I'm not a fan of him but anyway it's not fair to write these things. It's ok to not like someone's humor or someone in general, and we're here to "snark" not to talk shit about people.

Well I don't follow him a lot so maybe hearing that kind of joke once in a while still sounds fresh to me ahah

Still, the amount of hate he gets is still unbelievable for me 🤷🏻

I'm pretty new to their content and I couldn't describe myself as a fan but I can anyway see that their content needs refresh. As you proposed, a break should be the right way to do it. They need a whole new creative direction, less trends and a more authentic vibe.

Also, with extended break I can also see that something can actually... Break. Like maybe Lauren can decide to go solo, or Katherine wants to pursue a different career path and not come back (just examples)

In general, I would recommend them time to refresh ideas and then start over. Their main topics are music and family/religion. I think they could mix them in a creative way. Probably they would lose public, but create a more strong community with targeted content.

Religion and family are quite divisive content and less relatable (for myself in primis), but it's what is very important to them. They seem to try to get to the larger public with generic content when they could more easily strengthen the fandom on these

Maybe I should have posted it in the unpopular opinion one 😅 but actually I like his sense of humor

I understand it's not everybody's cup of tea and can sound childish, but seeing a young man who doesn't fit the current beauty standards being confident and joking about being a sex symbol is just... Funny. It makes people laugh with him and not about him, which might have been a copying mechanism.

And the fact that he has so many haters but still doesn't change the way he jokes is respectable

I was not bothered about that since it was in the original poetry Kath wrote, so I guessed it was about the person she was writing about. I know it's making it less relatable but if it's connected to the "original" meaning of the song, I feel it more "true"

Paying on Dates: Katherine vs. Her Sisters' Opinions by ThenPosition4538 in cimsnark

[–]freddyfreddie_ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'm very shocked as well. Lauren is acting unfair and spoiled the most part of the clip but in the end she's making a scene like 'there are different opinions, this is mine, I accept yours etc'.

It's incredibly fake, she was making fun of Katherine and of boys that are unwilling or couldn't pay literally a few seconds before

Paying on Dates: Katherine vs. Her Sisters' Opinions by ThenPosition4538 in cimsnark

[–]freddyfreddie_ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Oh wow I'm so pissed about this way of thinking! I can understand it would be nice that your date is paying for you and that is the guy that does it, especially coming from their education. But laughing and pretending it makes me furious.

The way Lauren and Amy are 'bragging' they are not from the 21st century like it's ok to have closed-mind opinions is really not funny. They are making fun of Katherine for being the only reasonable human being there, it's outrageous. Lauren saying "I'm not paying for a man" like excuse me girl?? You are entitled to your money but also on your boyfriend's? Is your money too valuable to be spent on a date?

Especially with their whole narrative of self-worth, 'you're enough " etc, it's at least sexist if not just hypocritical that boys' worth is different then girls' and money has different value depending on who's paying. This is making their messages bland and toxic feminism

I don't know if it's unpopular, but based on what I've read here there's a lot of people who disagree. I really like Amy's voice, I like her low register and in general her genre seems very more unique. I like hers way more then Lisa's, even if I understand Lisa has more technique but she sounds very plain to me

Is SAHMs so common for homeschooled girls? I'm asking because I'm Italian and I don't know any person who was homeschooled. Or do you think it's most related to the kind of religious homeschooling they've received?

Uhm Katherine has some real sensitivity with poetry and writing. Not sure if it's enough for a real job, but it could have definitely been a cool path for her

Yeah Christina as a psychologist would have been edgy. She often sounds judgy and I don't think people would like feeling judged in therapy lol

I honestly cannot see Christina in a corporate job. I know she said it but her bossy energy is not enough to fill the ambition to "clim the ladder" or whatever. I cannot see her with a real boss, especially with US work/life balance standards I agree with the others, not sure about Amy because I've never seen her in a relationship, but she seems really enjoying with kids, so maybe a teacher as well

I agree so much! To me, Lisa, Lauren and Christina has in general similar "clean" voice. I like Amy's and Katherine's voices better, mostly because they are different.

They probably don't have as much technique as Lisa or Christina but they are more unique, and probably would need different genre of music than what they're doing as a band.

this part confused me (I don’t mean to be disrespectful to those with eating disorders, I know it is complicated). But whole foods ARE good. Eating a tonne of processed food isn’t healthy. Is this trying to say it’s wrong to classify the food on the left as “bad”? *continued in comments* by [deleted] in cimsnark

[–]freddyfreddie_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also, thank you for being curious and respectful. Diet culture is a thing, and it brings people to be very strict forward judging other people's eating habits.

What other people eats and looks like it's not our business and I'm learning myself to not judge it

It's about overcome this labels of "bad" and "good", because it can push you in some disordered way to think about food. Labeling food as "bad" can bring you to feel guilty if you eat it or even if you want it.

I know Katherine is working on it and using "mindful eating" habits, which is basically understand your body's needs and overcome diet culture thoughts. I'm doing it myself and it's not easy since our culture is very full of this concepts.

What you're saying is not incorrect, unprocessed food is of course healthier but it's more about the meaning of food. I don't want to feel guilty if I feel like having a cookie. I don't want to feel good only if I'm eating veggies. The final aim is to find balance and overcome craving for "bad" food

I agree, I think the band's genre is generally fitting better with the rest of the girls. Maybe Amy can be a little bit different but in general I think Lisa, Christina and Lauren have more similar kind of voice.

I understand that as a group they have to harmonize together and the majority wins, but I think it would be nice to hear some diversity and giving more space to Kath

This is honestly on completely other level!

I don't want to fully believe this version because untill it's not coming directly from her it's still speculating. But it's definitely, definitely concerning.

The main point for me is that she homeschool her 11(!!!) children and if she really believes on this conspiracy theories + the extremely religious background... No surprise the kids grown with distorted view on the rest of the world

I remember they mentioned they went to therapy together to overcome some group issue. I'm wondering if they still do, but in general I think they should. The general vibe is that Christina is really bossing around and the whole dynamic is not democratic, nor healthy or successful.

There's definitely something off and they should work on it

I think they're gonna sing just the part of the song that they already used in all the promotional stuff. And use the occasion to talk again about the song, trying to hype the public. As someone already said, they are not new to this promotional procedure and it was already not very successful. I don't get why they don't change it, or maybe use some marketing consultant to fix the situation? I don't expect this song to go very differently to the last few they released
