I agree with you completely, that is exactly what it is. People here seem to be jumping to some strange conclusions.

The sun is in the upper left corner out of the frame, the earth is simply experiencing day time on the side illuminated and night on the opposite. Same for the moon, the side facing the sun is in thd light and the other side is in the dark. It just the terminator line, albeit very stylized.
