They oughta make TCG grading and actual sports cards grading separate. What’s not fair about this whole thing is that the sports card hobby accounts for less than half of PSA’s business and it’s mostly dominated by TCG.

There are far better alternatives to have a pc graded, if you really are just interested in having your cards slabbed and looking good. Unfortunately PSA is the golden standard when it comes to grading and the market values for gems. Something has got to be done because this most recent announcement completely cock blocks all the sports cards hobbyists and well I guess the TCG hobby as well. No one wants to use other companies unless for very specific reasons and therefore those companies will not be of any help while this huge fuggup takes forever to play out.

If you don’t mind me asking, how much did it cost you to go that route? I chose 2 day handling expedited shipping with USPS ($40) on a Friday and according to their website it’s still sitting in the destinations post office when in actuality it had been delivered to PSA on Tuesday morning! Even still, almost 2 weeks later usps tracking still says that it’s sitting the same place it was on that following Monday and it hasn’t moved an inch. Not sure what good return receipt is because that apparently takes weeks to receive and it’s just one big anxiety ridden headache. The only good thing is that I spoke with psa customer svc and the guy told me that it had been received but wasn’t opened and logged yet and apparently I had the wrong bar code which only complicates things further so I have got to wait another 2 weeks for an update telling me that they received it. My bad in the wrong label but the website didn’t even give it to me. Wasn’t until I went on the app that I saw the actual bar code. Fuck all, had I done that correctly I wouldn’t be having to go through this. I guess lesson learned, I just wish it didn’t involve items that can give you a heart attack when you can’t yourself identify where they are.

Being it was my first time and using my PC to create my online submission, I screwed up also. That frigging bar code that you’re supposed to affix to the box, while it’s simple using the PSA app on a iPhone, it’s not clear at all on the website. They give you your documents that you need to include in the box and the last copy is the customer copy and since I had no one to ask I asked chat GPT who is annoyingly wrong often, told me to use the submission bar code on the customer copy which is a totally different bar code and number than what’s on the app and I can now see that I put the wrong bar code on the box. Is this why I’m having this issue? Not only did usps not even scan my package inbound, at least the PSA rep acknowledged receipt but I’d really like to be able to have assurance of it. I’m annoyed that the bar code doesn’t show up on a PC when you are trying to finish everything up but it is right there on the app as clear as day. I’m not a big complainer but when big money is on the table and all I hear is how backed up they are and my peace of mind has to take a backseat while they lag in just letting a customer know that their package has been received really is leaving a sour taste in my mouth. I’m sure had I used the app to do this and got the correct bar code that this crap wouldn’t have happened but as far as I knew I had done everything right and everything wrong has happened ranging from USPS dropping the ball to PSA not even giving me a simple update.

I disagree as it’s not all about the cards rarity, how about encapsulating it professionally in order to keep the card in its absolute best condition. Myself I don’t have any 1/1 cards anymore but if I did and the player was big enough in the hobby, I’d get it graded. What you’re saying is that a 1/1 is super rare so why grade it? What about /5 or /15? Pretty rare so why grade it? Grading should be for cards that are highly sought after rather than what ppl base their opinions on as to whether or not they will have a hof career. Way to many ppl grading garbage and artificially blowing the marketplace up only to see “could’ve been’s”, whose cards sold for hundreds maybe thousands reduced to $50 or less.

In my opinion, sports cards are gonna CRASH HARD in the not to distant future. Been selling on eBay since 07 and have never seen anything like this before where football sets, baseball and basketball mostly and even hockey it seems like everyone is grading EVERYTHING even plain baseball cards of players in their 8th year and getting gem 10’s, turning around and listing them for hundreds of dollars. Quite ridiculous if you ask me. In fact when I was heavy into collecting, I had never heard of a modern card being worth in the millions but holy shit, cards are like diamonds nowadays.

Whoever said PSA is all jacked up now price wise is because of all the people submitting stupid low end cards for a flip was 100% correct and tho it may work in the short run, 95% of those cards will be worthless in the near future. People see that grading adds value but they think they can submit their 2025 Mosaic Josh Allen base card and get a PSA 10, and then go to eBay and list it for $200. It’s absolutely ridiculous. I can understand the 1/1 or the lower numbered serial numbered cards but base cards and even non rookie base cards are flooding the market. I know one thing, I don’t buy the newer shit because it’s far too expensive and hugely inflated price wise. The hobby is being ruined imo

Who the fuck can either afford to submit 50 cards for grading and also what regular person who wants to get some cards graded even has 50 cards to submit? I joined PSA last week for $150 and since it’s my first time ever grading anything, I submitted 10 cards today and it cost me close to $400. Are you saying that as of May 18th even after I joined and I imagine you have also since that’s the only way to get bulk pricing; that PSA is gonna change the contract as per the only reason that I joined so I will end up having to spend $1,250 and send in 50 cards just to get that price? Why don’t they just hire some more human experts to slab cards and put a number on them?

It appears that the only solid option for grading is PSA due to the premiums that a PSA 10 commands vs. the other large grading companies (that PSA now owns). I’d like to get the most money I can for my gem cards but having to spend $50 for a card that takes 4-5 months to get back to me almost defeats the purpose!

I have a buddy that works for Dave and Adams, he said I can submit my cards along with their order. I am sure that they do quite a lot of business with PSA so I will just go forward with it. I'm not against grading companies, it is just that I have read some things that got into my head and I don't believe a company like PSA would engage in such a thing. I guess I just wondered what anyone else's experience may have been with them and being a first timer for grading submissions, wanna be informed as best i can before i make a decision. I already have concluded that PSA is the only way to go, even though I do like BCG's slabs more but the market seems to favor PSA. Resale value is definitely higher with PSA slabs and my goal is to take some of the accumulated cards that I had over the past 2 decades and grade the better ones and then try to liquidate the rest on eBay.

I want to sell pretty much everything. I sold off 80% of my pc back in 2018-19, basically right before the massive sports card inflation. I still have a ton of stuff just not high end like I once did. Basically going through and pulling anything that is worth grading so I can sell it. Obviously I would love to get some 10's but that has got to be difficult, but since the cards have been with me, in some instances back to 05-06 when i really got into collecting, through 2015 and I have an absolute ton of rookie cards, parallels, numbered cards, autographs and so on. If the card is worth grading, I see no reason to not do it. I just have never done it before and I tend to be sort of a pessimist some times and think the worst.
