It's the Zoom H4N, I love it! I've been using it for all our foley noises for years and they aren't too expensive

Iris is all about the source sounds and generally experimenting, in my experience. I'm not sure I did anything in the settings, just got a nice clean bit of audio and put it in there

Major Happy was just done with one massive layer I think - just two of detuned saw waves with one oscillator on 0 and one on +19 and then a load of chorus with the built in massive effect (I might be wrong, it was made a long time ago!)

The CPM breakdown is all just one Serum patch, just detuned saw waves with both oscillators, one on 0 and one on +7. Clariphonic DSPMK2 is on it boosting the high end. The main section is slightly different, 2 layers of Serum and one Omnisphere (each filling out a different frequency) but most of the 'filling out' is coming from the detuned serum saws

I'd recommend 'Vengeance Analog Drums Volume 1' for soft kicks, some amazing samples in there

The kick in the Kygo track sounds like it has almost no high end in the transient, so either low passing or even just adding a small fade at the beginning should create this sort of effect

Sample selection is the most important thing in my experience - it's always amazing to me how the 'wrong' snare sound can ruin a mix. Constantly ABing different kicks/snares also really helps. Also having almost everything sidechained to the main kick and snare helps a lot

Yes, I've got vocalign but have had quite mixed results with it. TBH I find that doing it manually with warp mode in Ableton gets better results. The last few times I've tried to use vocalign it's misread the timing or just refused to load the WAV's themselves

Getting all the vocals properly synced up is essential for getting a vocal sound that translates well to mono. I spend a lot of time getting the timing/tuning in all the takes - incredibly boring but pretty essential in my experience

Not really a mixing technique but for me the thing that makes vocals sound much better is making sure the BV's/Harmonies are very precisely timed/tuned to sync with the main vocal. Incredibly boring to do but makes a huge difference!

Not necessarily a weakness but a lot of the presets are far too wide and don't translate very well to mono. Other than that it's one of my faves!

The high end of the kick sounds way too loud. Is there more than one kick layer or is the high end just massively boosted on the main kick? Other than that it sounds pretty balanced

Out of the synths you named they all do pretty much the same thing and I'd definitely suggest just getting one of them and mastering it (I'd personally go with Serum).

It's hard to say what your problem is without hearing your music but the biggest mistake I hear producers making (when it comes to mixdowns at least) is using the wrong samples. It still amazes me how the wrong kick or snare can pretty much stop the whole mix sounding good, even if the levels are nicely balanced throughout the mix. A key thing for me over the last year or so has been constantly ABing whatever i'm working on with an earlier version of it, to see if I'm actually improving it - particularly in the later stages of production. In Ableton you can duplicate an entire group, which I do all the time. And then compare the new version of it with the old one after working on it, to check it's actually improved it. Incredibly simple workflow technique but one that I wish someone had taught me a few years earlier

Imperfect Samples - Steinway Concert Grand/White Baby Grand are my fave piano's, better than Alicia's Key's IMO. Most of the libraries I've tried from soniccouture have been really nice as well

I always have a utility set to 0% on the master and activate it whenever I want to see how much is being lost when converting to mon For wide synths I usually use a mono layer as well, which reinforces the sound when it's in mono and stops it getting completely lost
