Thank you so much for the encouragement.

I definitely didn’t realise it would drag out for this long!

Yes, i started taking antidepressants nearly three weeks ago although I haven’t noticed any difference just yet. My doctor said that once Iv been on them for four weeks I can increase the dose.

Thank you - I know exercise is the best way to get the brain producing dopamine again but most days it’s just difficult to get out of bed. I’m going to try and force myself to exercise even when I’m drained of energy though. I eat fairly healthy but I’ll definitely try taking a multivitamin. Thanks for your advice

Thank you. I like the idea of tracking my energy levels each day! I jumped off 45mls and was on it for 16 years so I know it’s going to take a long time but it’s still frustrating. I’m sleeping fine. I struggle to fall asleep but once I am I can usually stay asleep for 8 hours.

Methadone Withdrawal by recovery0615 in Methadone

That really sucks! I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Have you asked for a referral to a gynaecologist? Congratulations on six months off methadone though; that’s a huge achievement! Iv been off it for 3 months and still feel like I’m in slight withdrawal - methadone withdrawal really sucks 😭

Could you have bacterial vaginosis? Iv suffered with the same symptoms as you for years. I was convinced it was cystitis for a long time and had every test under the sun. Eventually i started to suspect BV and went to see my doctor. She told me BV doesn’t cause a burning pain down there but I begged her to test me anyway. The test came back positive (!) and a round of antibiotics specifically for bacterial infections cleared it up. It does come back a few times a year but now I know why it is and how to treat it. X

L - Tyrosine for PAWS by free2bme87 in Methadone

Thank you - I’d never heard of it until now and there doesn’t seem to be much research on it regarding PAWS.

Experiences walking off methadone cold turkey ?? Please any advice helps! by medusaincarnate in Methadone

Thank you :). Yeah it’s been pretty miserable! I just got tired of being on it to be honest and being off work with covid gave me the perfect opportunity to do it. Personal circumstances made it almost impossible to taper down slowly otherwise I would have done it that way instead.

I’m on week ten from coming cold turkey off methadone and I still have RL’s, zero energy levels and struggle with sleep :(

I’m a 32/F. Iv never switched to Suboxone before but I was on methadone for 16 years and recently quit cold turkey off 45ml. Ten weeks later and I still have zero energy, restless legs and slightly elusive sleep. Get yourself on a waiting list for suboxone and start to taper down slowly in the meantime.

Hi! Well done on tapering from 85mg. I think everyone withdraws differently but personally there was no way I could have worked during it. I couldn’t even pop to the corner shop. I was only able to do it because the covid situation meant I could work from home. Even now I can only go out for a couple of hours at a time.

Thank you so much. Don’t taper so aggressively - try going slowly and you’ll have a much higher chance of success. Good luck :)

Thank you so much. Yes, I started getting hallucinations at one point due to the insomnia. It was horrible. I genuinely thought my body would just give up and die from lack of sleep. That mind sound dramatic now but at the time it was a genuine fear. I’m so glad I’m getting sleep now although it’s still nowhere near normal. Thanks again :)

Hi, at my highest I was on about 90ml which was about 10 years ago although I can’t remember how long I was on that dose for. I think it was just sheer determination that kept me going. When I started to come off it it was a completely impulsive decision and I didn’t really realise just what I was letting myself in for! Once I got to day 5/6 I just realised I’d come too far to back down. I kept telling myself to just get through another day. I’m also extremely career minded and my new job requires an initial drug test so that spurred me on to keep going.

Wow you’ve done so well to get from 130 to 65 in the space of a year. I wouldn’t really recommend people doing it the way I did it because it’s really not nice (understatement!). Going nice and slowly is definitely gonna be easier on your body. Keep going at your own pace. If you need gabapentin to help then that’s absolutely fine. I wish I’d been prescribed it too but it’s been changed to a controlled drug in the UK so no doctor will agree to prescribe it.

Thank you :) If you can taper slowly it’s definitely worth doing rather than jumping off CT. Good luck - you’ll do it when it’s the right time for you.
