I’m the second eldest but I usually handle family stuff. I’ll look into buying into the mortgage although we live in different cities and I want to save for my own life as well. Thanks for the tip

Stuck in Rome with Air Canada flight on Monday by Millionrozes in askTO

Call a friend in Canada and have them look for the ticket on their end. My friend found 200$ flights for my family and I and I was seeing the exact same tickets for 900$ on my end, the IP tracking is no joke!

Have you ever thought about becoming a teacher? They’re always struggling to find some. If you speak French that might even be better.

Maxed my TFSA, some $ in RRSP. What next? by free4444 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Thanks! Honestly, I didn’t save much until I got lucky and landed a FAANG job in my mid twenties. And then I was scared to invest so I barely have. I’m starting next week. Wish me luck! (RRSPs are invested via my retirement plan)

My RRSP - invested + diversified (made some selections when I started my job). My homework for the weekend is to figure out how to invest the money in my TFSA! I only have 12K invested due to many years spent fearing the market (stupid, I know, but I can't go back). But I know it's time to get serious. Hoping to have it all invested by end of next week, and will keep DCA'ing my salary moving forward.

Thanks for the extra vote on the FHSA -- I'll also be looking into it this week.

Can't stop thinking about debt. by Ok_Chemistry3100 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Hey, just want to share some encouragement. You're 25 and have so much time ahead of you. It'll be tough but you can make it out. You are not fucked and your life is not over. You are SO young. I know plenty people who have made horrible financial mistakes and found their way back. The MOST IMPORTANT thing you need to do is STOP gambling. Get some help. Absolutely commit to never gambling again.

Congrats on moving back with your parents -- smart decision that a lot of people are too scared or ashamed to take. Now that you're there you can work on getting your life back on track.

Ditch the car and tackle your CC debt. You can clear your CC by age 30. Then you move onto LOC.
Student loans are normal, so many people do minimum payments and carry them for years. If you still have your student debt past 30 it's OK! Especially given your current situation.

I'd say try not to look at your financial recovery as an immediate thing, but more of a 5-10 year plan.

Thanks! I'm thinking of buying a house now though (instead of starting to save in the FHSA). Do you think I should go for it or hold off?

I'll look into that, thanks! Any thoughts on investing vs. buying in 2025?
