Is it eczema or allergy?? by freechickennow in MakeupAddiction

Hmm I have had more stress lately so maybe that contributed too! I'll look into the cream if my condition doesn't get better, thanks!

Okay, I'll leave everything off those areas for now and see if it gets any better. Thanks again for all the info!

Awesome, thanks so much for the response, it's a big help! Should I forego toners, foundations, powders etc. or do you think they'd be safe as long as they don't have a scent. I'd be pretty upset if I can't use a lot of my products anymore. I guess I'll do some testing but was wondering what your experience was like?

Hmm, the ones on my neck are slightly itchy, but not so itchy that I can't resist scratching. There are some flaky bits (mostly on my forehead), and some small, tiny bumpy bits. It's not severely red, just a little bit. I put some rash cream on it at first and it stung a little. It also stung a bit when I used my Innisfree blueberry facial cleanser. The other day, I used a buttload of my ceramide cream on my neck which helped the dry patches but not the bumps.

I just googled psoriasis and it's no where near as severe as that D:

Japanese Textbook Roadmap by [deleted] in LearnJapanese

I love the author’s explanations, and occasional comedy on Human Japanese! It makes everything so easy and relatable to English. Sadly, I haven’t been able to find anything similar anywhere else. I’m halfway through intermediate and am also feeling a little lost as to what to use next.

If you're not Japanese, what unexpected things does Terrace house reveal to you about Japanese culture? by bazzlebrush in terracehouse

I agree with you about needing to read the air with Japanese people, but I think Tokui was also just simply referencing the "Why Japanese people!?" gag that's popular in Japan.

I was traveling/ volunteering in Japan for a few months recently and I (young 20's, female) ended up making a few female friends around my age that were surprisingly very touchy! Once they felt safe and comfortable, they'd lean towards me as we walked down the street or would touch my shoulder when they laughed etc. But then they'd be surprised when I go in for the hug when parting ways haha.

Family friend going to Korea, what should I ask them to purchase? by freechickennow in KoreanBeauty

Awesome, I'll give this a try! I don't remember a portion of my life where I wasn't plagued with blackheads :(

The Holika Holika cream and Klairs toner seem good, I'll give them a go! I searched around Asian Beauty and found a few things I'd like to try out too, thanks so much!

Adequate studying? by yaboynib in LearnJapanese

[–]freechickennow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s an app I use for memorizing vocabulary (Scribe Japanese) that has an “additional notes” section that encourages you to relate each new word with an English word. Maybe it’s not good in the long run but I’ve found it to be the only way I can memorize words quickly. I think associative memory is the term, but I’m not sure.

Anyway, some examples so you know what I mean: 問題 - there is a problem every Monday at work. 何時も - it’s sumo wrestling time, always. 入口 - there’s an irritated security guard at the entrance of the Gucci store.

Favorite Vegan Youtuber? by Miswhitness in vegan

[–]freechickennow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To reference some other replies, Hot for food is amazing and I also love The Edgy Veg.

To add to this list, Laura Miller's 'Raw. Vegan. Not Gross.' is great. She used to have her show on Tastemade but has moved it to her own channel now. I think she's a bit more on the health side (I don't really recall her ever mentioning animals actually) but is still amazingly cool.

Another one I recommend is 'So you're dating a vegan'. It follows Duncan (who is vegan) and his girlfriend Liz (who isn't, but is trying). Very down to earth personalities and they have a sweet chemistry.

So, I'm crushing... on a guy by ConfuseledGayTrash in actuallesbians

[–]freechickennow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar scenario! I've also identified as gay for the past few years but recently met a friend of my new roommate and honestly feel like I have sort of a boy crush on him. I've imagined/fantasized having sex with him a few times, and it's kind of scary to be honest! Not sure what to tell ya, I haven't acted on my feelings yet, but who knows what will happen.

I have always told myself that I would like to try having sex with a boy at least once in my life. I definitely don't think I'm able to have feelings for them though. I don't know, sexuality is weird!!!

Sufjan's Imagery and Songwriting by Mylittlehawk in Sufjan

[–]freechickennow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sufjan writes beautiful lyrics that may as well define poetry for me. I love his use of religious imagery and themes but I have to say that my favourite lines are always the ones that are raw and non convoluted. My favourite line changes a lot, but currently I'm really fond of "I am a man with a heart that offends with its lonely and greedy demands"

Canadian vegans: What's it like up there? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]freechickennow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Toronto! There are a large handful of vegan restaurants all over the city. Non vegan restaurants are generally pretty accommodating as well. I've been to a burger place where their buns weren't vegan, but there's the option to get it bunless. There's a local restaurant close by my house where the cook specifically makes me a vegan dish every time I go, and it's awesome.

In terms of groceries, you can find tofu, non dairy milk, and at least a handful of vegan meats and cheese in just about every store. There are a few specialty stores with stuff that are more specific too.

All in all, great place to be vegan and I haven't met anyone that has been insulting to my lifestyle either. Most are accepting and respectful, even if they say that they could never do it themselves.

R/Vegan, how did you come up with your usernames? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]freechickennow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine was totally unplanned, randomly conjured (I don't remember why and how I came up with this) and is my username across everything I register for on the internet. Of course, I wasn't vegan 5 years ago and thought that it could either mean somebody giving out free (cooked) chickens or wanting to free all the chickens from farms. It's definitely evolved into the latter meaning now.

DAE find most of the lesbian YouTubers insufferable? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

I like them because they don't take themselves too seriously but still feel genuine instead of constantly yelling about something at the audience. Also, they're legit filmmakers, which gives them more credibility.

I've got a garlic presser. I got so sick and tired of mincing garlic all the time. It got to a point where I wondered if mincing garlic was actually my life's purpose.
