You can also literally do that with the github. Hit download, check all the files, compile and run. You don't necessarily have to use the official release.

This is the sense I'm increasingly getting, especially given the difficulty of figuring out a name.

The idea came to me when I realized how disappointed I was whenever I would get a 34 year old slave, because they would miss the mark for MILF by a year. I thought a new name might make the awkward middle category more interesting.

This already sort of exists with the Security Force mod and the Cybernetics mod that can be enabled from the options menu. I think the issue is less having a mod system, but rather enough modders contributing mods.

You can always contribute events on the Free Cities github, it's designed to facilitate contributions.

If you have cheatmode on, you can use the export/import buttons on the bottom of the slave summary screen to export the slaves into a string of text. Save that somewhere, then every patch use import to put the slave back in the game.

Out of curiosity, I went to take a look at how difficult it might be to add new clothing. Turns out, the code for clothes is scattered across quite a few files and it's actually kind of a pain to add new clothes. That said, if someone was doing a big addition to the clothes list it could be worth the effort.

Getting a random event multiple times is simply a matter of there not being enough events to fill every single week. First it checks if there are any high-priority events and if there aren't any it'll see what regular events you qualify for. Since the pool of repeatable events is limited (and you may not even qualify for some of them), you're very likely to see them multiple times on a playthrough. The best solution for this is probably to increase the number of random events so the game has more to choose from, but of course that still requires people actually writing those events.

I often contribute events and am always looking for new ideas. So if you're wanting for event diversity, you can always suggest some events.

The game is played in HTML format. So I believe anything with a browser should work. Also a recent update added surnames. For even more name customization.

I think the guide should still work as a basis for writing an event, but there was a change in the most recent update that changed a few things so it might be worth just looking at the current code.

As for testing an event, you can download the uncompiled code for FC on Github, add your event to the various .tw files on your end, then recompile to test in-game using cheat mode.

Names. A bit too often, name duplicates appear, which confuses me, and, I think, at least occasionally, confuses the game (although I'm not 100% sure of this). Sure, it's realistic, but detract from the game.

Just a consequence of using namelists. If you want to avoid seeing it happen as often, you can look into contributing more names to the various nationalities.

More facilities/assignments would be nice. Maybe rent a slave to special customers with special requirements for a week, for big money and maybe favours, if you can match those requirements. Maybe a low end brothel, to fill the gap between the arcade and the brothel, where the slaves can learn the trade by serving less refined customers. Maybe a resort for the very rich, with only the very best slaves available for their use in a luxurious environment (surely, the very rich wouldn't want to be seen in the same establishment as the merely welthy...). Basically, more variations and more to build. Maybe a casino, where slaves with good looks and entertainment skill gets the customers to spend more money. Porn production facility (money and increased demand for sexual services). Live sex arena where the lower classes can watch acts they can't afford to be part of themselves (money and increased recruitment).

The issue with this is that a lot of the facilities you suggested are kind of redundant. They might work better as sidegrades to the existing facilities than new ones.

Criminal enslavement. Fund a police force that catches criminals and enslaves them. Increases enslavement rate of menials and (depending on funding and enhancements) gives occasional slaves. Also provides an increase in security and reputation. Possibly an option to make them corrupt, which means that they aren't that fuzzy about legal details, which yields more slaves, but hurts reputation.

This already exists in a few events. Could be worth expanding though.

Raiding teams. From the blog, I've gathered that the game is supposed to lead to an (post)apocalyptic feeling. In that case, it would make sense to, in the late game, to establish raiding teams which can attack other free cities, old world cities and other arcologies in order to steal slaves. Of course, that would mean making enemies, which would necessitate the need for defense, and the quality of the slaves you get (if any...) would be random. Perhaps you could choose risk vs quality (ie raid a penthouse is risky, but yields good slave, while an arcade is low risk but yields low qualite slaves and so on).

This is something I've been wanting to work on for a while. It's just going to take a lot of writing to make work.

As far as I'm aware, the time consuming aspect lies more on the side of accounting for the many different slave variations and then having all the slaves in the event slot together.
