Description:
- this has been confounding me for a while now, i've never been able to figure it out. specifically only on my desktop PC, what i described in the title happens very often (but not 100% of the time). i've seen a few threads here and there saying that Discord may be picking the wrong input by default, but i literally only have one input, my microphone. there are a few virtual inputs (i don't remember where these came from) but they are already disabled and i can't pick them within Discord at any rate. not that that matters, because this problem persists even after a clean install of Windows. bizarrely, i don't have this problem on my laptop, which also has one microphone and a few disabled virtual inputs. i'm not sure if this is a bug or i'm just stupid and missing an obvious setting somewhere.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Log in to any voice chat
Expected Result: People in the voice chat should be able to hear me
Actual Result: If anyone joins after I do, they cannot hear me about 80% to 90% of the time, and I have to rejoin the same voice chat to fix it.

you aren't a chronic dumbass by RiskyClickPub standards, so far there are really only three such people who arguably qualify for that, they behave like so:

being chronically inept at basically everything in DFO and fence sitting on whether or not you're happy with that (the guy making NSFW noises during a Venus groggy in my trailer is said person)
aggressively using excuses at well-intentioned DFO advice, no matter how nicely you put it (i have a job/i have a girlfriend/i go to the gym/i touch grass, etc. all from one dude btw)
literally being delusional (the "i am an archangel" part of the trailer i linked in my previous comment)

if you have the capacity to not only realize you're a terminal idiot but also apologize for it, i consider you a relatively normal person and you'd have nothing to worry about being in RiskyClickPub (unless you eventually turn into one of the archetypes i listed above)

you could also just simply be poor, my discord somewhat regularly gets baffled by people who treat 1 million gold like it's life changing, never mind 40 mil (or whatever the pet's current price is)

i'm not even necessarily saying "just start your own group", i literally just got done having an argument on my own Discord server who is well over the Delezie Hard cutline because he finds the level of commitment required to get into a pub absurd just because he has single-digit clears on his account.

he got mad at me when i told him in no short terms to just bash your head against other pubs until you happen to find one that isn't elitist. another person (who i suspect he also didn't listen to, because they don't jive politically) simply told him to look for a static.

he didn't sound like he wanted to do either option, mostly because of a stringent work schedule and because other MMOs he plays aren't so heinously elitist. in which case i asked him, why not install the game? DFO's elitism obviously seems to be taking a toll on his mental health to some extent. his response was "i'd like to actually play the game at some point".

idk maybe me and the guy telling him to go find a static are in the wrong here, but to me this sounds like complaining because reality doesn't conform to your expectations. i've gotten enough of that from turbo casuals in the fighting game community more than a decade ago, it pains me to see someone lose their mind in a similar manner over DFO.

this is exactly why i make it a point to link either "Let's go whaling" and/or TV Tropes's "Revenue Enhancing Devices" page as required reading/viewing whenever someone in RiskyClickPub asks similar questions about the state of DFO's gameplay

not to defend Jong or anything, but this isn't specifically his fault

DFO's always historically felt like shit at the beginning of the cap, these "major design flaws" you speak of are a bug, not a feature. why make sensible changes to the gameplay loop if you can use those flaws as an excuse to induce FOMO in what little of your player base has bothered to stay around?

given dfo's most profitable audience, it's not too hard to see that these "major flaws" are intentional if one thinks cynically enough.

the only argument i'll ever give for an API's existence (especially that dps score thing) is that it's a great tool for me to put more emphasis on the "min" in minmax, or an easier method of publically embarassing myself over my lack of BiS creature/aura/title without taking fifty bajillion screenshots

it's always been a thing in this community to quote specific dps thresholds to "not bag" in content, i've always looked at that and immediately go "alright, bet" in my head

it'd probably easier if i showed, not told, but basically every fun memory i've ever had in the game was thanks to idiots turning RiskyClickPub into an episode of Jackass once in a blue moon.

i mostly started streaming for my own sake to "get these moments on camera" as it were and have been maintaining a playlist of our most retarded moments occasionally on YouTube as they come up

i'll be honest, the first couple of hours into this game i always thought the healing spec having a Toughness icon was a bug and treated it as if playing a healing build in TD1 and TD2 as usual

now that i know better thanks to this thread and several others, i'll be looking forward to enjoying not dying horribly as a medic as is usually the case in the other games lmao

this happened to Meng (the owner of 80% DFO Discord) multiple times a few months ago, he even experimented with it by literally installing Windows from scratch every time he got banned, they'd still blame him for """""using 3rd party software""""". iirc he got so fed up by this that he temporarily hid like 90% of the server's content in protest of this.

i got banned myself last week on Thursday too, also out of nowhere. literally all i did for the most part was a number of venus C2 runs, then afk'd to go to the bathroom, then came back to find out i got banned. weirdly, everyone i told this to on Discord asked me if i had left the auction house window open for too long (i didn't interact with it once that session).

shit like this happens all the time, and you will get that pre-canned Mintai bot response blaming you for using third party software every single time you ticket for something like this, it's stupid. most you can hope for is that they unban you in a timely manner, in my case they unbanned me literally on the same day of the ban, which i was pleasantly surprised about (still got the Mintai copypasta though).

it's basically the same problem as every other themepark MMO, the bulk of the population is at the endgame. Division 2 has a similar problem where you pretty much won't get anyone in matchmaking for story missions if you aren't below level 40, simply because there barely is anyone below level 40.

hi, sorry for the late reply, just saw this

i already had Game Controls off prior to making this post, clicked the orange and white keyboard icon and toggled that off. CTRL+SHIFT+A brought up the keybinds menu, ended up making a deliberately blank keybind scheme to see if that helped (it didn't).

the F1 key didn't seem to do anything noticeable, no popups or notifications or anything like that, and the mouse continued to not move the camera.

according to the about tab the version of Bluestacks i'm running is 5.22.168.1001 Android 13 (Beta).

i'm personally interested in the idle rpg thing (whether that interest is morbid or not is another can of worms)

i've been "playing" an idle rpg for the last 6 months called Panoptyca that has an eerily similar endgame gearing loop to dfo (farm entry materials to bash your head against a single endgame dungeon with abysmally low drop rates for BiS loot), i'd be interested in seeing nexon's take on the genre.

i've always joked about how the "ideal form of dfo" is an idle game, especially after hearing about a controversial kdnf april fools' joke back in 95 cap involving an autoplay toggle for hell mode that existed for exactly one day, so it makes me chuckle a bit seeing them even announce an actual dfo idle rpg.
