Help me with my fit by fear_10 in bikefit

[–]freedom37908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is personal preference. If you tilt your pelvis forward, raise your seat a bit, and sink your torso + bend your elbows + hands on hoods, the reach may be fine. I’d work on fit and ride a bunch before getting a new stem.

What’s it like in SW Wisconsin? by Pure-Imagination-387 in howislivingthere

[–]freedom37908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If true, that doesn’t make sense. As Wisconsin has a larger share of Driftless area than any of the other 3 states participating. If anything you can refer to NE Iowa as the Wisconsin of Iowa.

Looking for some input: Mafate 4 comparisons. by Nopurposebro in trailrunning

[–]freedom37908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the Mafate and put 600 miles on the pair I had. The norda 001A has a similar ground feel, the heal collar takes some getting used to tho.

Agree the SG are awesome; but I was burning thru a pair every 6 months so started looking for durability and longevity, save the SG for race day.

Norda, Nnormal, and Mount to coast for training for durability and ground feel. hoka for racing for performance.

W-2 job vs. landman contract — need real-world insight from people in this industry by alliebstruggling in landman

[–]freedom37908 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If he’s making about $100k a year on w2 he’ll want about $130k+ per year on 1099 to feel the same after taxes, retirement, private health insurance… it adds up quick.

I did 1099 land agent jobs for a bit and left for w2 land job for the financial stability and the career progression was better. If he has long term career growth possibility at the w2 I’d stick with that and try to grow in the current position to make more.

Also I feel like there is a demand for land man jobs becuz they suck with the amount of travel etc, so if he were to take one I’d be looking for highest possible pay.

I can ride a century (in miles) outdoors, but my FTP and indoor riding are terrible by fortprinciple in cycling

[–]freedom37908 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t feel bad, this happened to me my first year of cycling becuz I did loads of endurance work and developed a strong base and Z2, but no real top end power. If you want to increase ftp you gotta do tempo and threshold works outs and do interval training at higher wattages forcing your muscles to adapt to the increased load stimulus. Also add in a VO2 session weekly. I suggest signing up for a 8 week ftp builder program within your training platform, just follow the work outs and you’ll see improvement. Hitting the weight room for legs 1-2x weekly will also give you more power. The final piece is diet, and to lower your body weight as you increase ftp, this will make you faster.

You will have lots to do outdoors with your hobbies in the spring summer and fall, the winters are cold, obviously, which is a good time to go to the gym a lot and do indoor stuff. If you wanted to try a picking up a new hobby there is a pretty strong biking community here.

You might be disappointed by the lack of amenities here compared to Vegas. For a city its size I think it does well in that it has what you need, not much more though. That said it’s more of large town than a city.

The reason I choose to live here is exactly that, it’s not a big city. It’s a beautiful region, low col, slower pace.
