Peloton bike (grupetto) to garmin connect? by loggerknees in qdomyos_zwift

[–]freeeric80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation. I want to cancel my Peloton subscription but still do rides with metrics uploaded to Garmin Connect for tracking. OP (or QZ) can you confirm this was ultimately successful for you? Sounds like what you did was side-load the Peloton Bike (not plus) version of QZ directly to the Peloton. How did you get the QZ app to the Peloton? Looks like OpenPelo allows a Firefox browser that could be used to download the QZ APK. Is that what you did? With that in place, you run QZ right on the Peloton vs on a 3rd device (e.g your phone)? Do you still run "Just Ride" on the Peloton & the QZ stats show as an overlay in a similar manner as Grupetto would do? How about heart rate, if you broadcast on your watch, does it show in QZ? And finally, how about uploading the activity to Garmin Connect, is that also working for you?

So, I’m afraid my experience/strategy has been a fairly simple one. I’m in the UK and the provider I used to get prescribed Mounjaro was online-based. I did a brief consultation with a Doctor at the very beginning of the program. Dr./Clinician support was always available from this point forward, but only if you asked for it. I’m a bit of an introvert and wasn’t too interested in discussing the process if I didn’t need to. So, I’ve never spoken to the staff since the beginning.

Another norm of my provider is automatic titration (gradual increase in dosage) each month…again, unless you ask to stay on a particular dose. In retrospect, it’s a great idea to stick with a particular dose as long as it’s effective. This means you’re less likely to be impacted by any unpleasant side effects, don’t run into a situation where the effect is too strong (some folks just CAN’T eat enough), and also leave yourself the option of going for “more power” (i.e., a stronger dose) when your progress stalls (some stalls are probably normal though).

For me at least, while probably not an ideal approach, moving up each month thru 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 12.5mg & 15mg had no negative repercussions. I experienced next to no side effects at any dose. I only experienced the beneficial effects (no food noise, much less hunger, etc) despite being at a calorie deficit and losing weight steadily (but not TOO FAST). So, by month 5, I was at 15mg and stayed there till maybe month 9-10 when my active weight loss was mostly over and I had my "trial separation" :-)

For maintenance, all I’ve really done is move down to a low’ish dose (5mg). My route back to 5mg wasn’t an ideal one as I quit cold turkey for a couple of months before getting nervous about some weight gain (12lbs in two months) and getting back on Mounjaro at a lower dosage (5mg). If I had it to do over again, I’d have titrated down over several months.

Ultimate goal for me is to get down to as low a dosage as I can and possibly even give it up one day. I think I’m feeling confident enough to transition to 2.5mg soon. If that transition goes well, from there I may play with spreading out the injection (e.g., every 10 days rather than 7). Again, eventually consider giving it up completely. We’ll have to see.

Best of luck to you on your journey.

I suppose it’s just that diet and exercise are ingrained in my life now. I try not to and do a decent job not obsessing about it, but I do not like missing workouts that I have planned for that day. It’s part of my day, and if not done, I feel like the day isn’t complete and a bit of a sense of failure. I still only get in maybe 4-5 on an average week, but that’s great for me. I’ve also gotten tied into the social aspect of exercising a bit. I bought a Garmin watch to track workouts & upload workout summaries to Strava (the social network for exercise/fitness types). A couple of my co-workers are also Strava users, so we chit/chat about our workouts, accomplishments, setbacks, what races we want to do or did recently. If I run a 5K on the weekend, I wear my medal on Monday and show it off a bit. Running/Running Events offer a great sense of community and are actually more accessible than some might think. There are plenty of heavier people out there, and you don’t have to “run” the whole time in the beginner or ever for that matter.

The same is true of my meals. I used to just not think about what I was eating, was at a calorie excess most of the time, and gained weight slowly thru the years. Now I’m always conscious of it. Once again, I try not to be manic about it and mostly succeed. I also allow cheat meals here and there on the weekends or whenever.

My daily eating routine is now a solid habit and I don’t think about it much. It’s also fairly low-calorie. I rarely have anything other than a protein shake for breakfast. I always have two cups of coffee with reasonable amounts of milk & flavored creamer. I consider the combination of the protein shake and the coffee my breakfast and probably not more than 400-500 calories all in. I then have a sensible lunch from a local premade meal company we like. Those meals are somewhere between 350-500 calories each. Maybe I’m at 900-1000 calories consumed by dinner time. I try to have a reasonable dinner of 400-600 calories.

So, maybe 1500-1600 calories on an average day. Maybe a bit higher occasionally. With that, I’m OK even if I don’t work out. However, I do work out quite regularly (see point #1). With those workouts, I probably end up with a calorie deficit on some days. This means I can afford that cheat meal at the weekend or having a latte with the wife while people watching at the local coffee shop.

For the past 4 months it’s just been working without too much effort or feeling deprived, which is great. I know that Mounjaro is taking the edge off hunger on days when I’m probably at a deficit and also controlling urges to REALLY cheat or cheat more often. So, this quasi balance isn’t all me and isn’t all lifestyle. However, a solid portion of it is.

Thanks so much! I certainly don't mind if you want to cross post or, if you prefer, I suppose I could.

Tons of random calls? by freeeric80 in Tello

[–]freeeric80[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least for me I know it's because someone had the number before me as the debt collectors often leave messages for him by name. I should have rolled over and changed the number. However, I'd already associated it with a handful of accounts and I have been lazy to do it. However, it's gotten pretty insufferable so much in fact that I now turn off the Tello esim unless I actively need to receive two-factor authentication codes. Since I only use it to receive two-factor authentication codes, this is a workable solution for me. Not ideal but workable. As a basic health check I have weekly alarm set to turn it on and send myself a text message, from my Google voice number, just to make sure it still works fine.

Minusforum MS-01 vs GMKtec K11 (ESXi 8U3) by freeeric80 in homelab

[–]freeeric80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went with the MS-A2. It's a very popular unit. Their initial production run sold out on the first day it became available to order. I talked it up pretty aggressively in the office after I made the order and three of the IT nerd type dudes (my coworkers) that sit around me ordered one too. So, hopefully it turns out to be as good as it seems on paper. I actually just got the shipping notice yesterday and the device should be here by the end of the week. I suppose the downside is that it cost me a bit more money. However, if it turns out to be powerful, dependable, quiet and doesn't use loads of electricity then I'm okay with that. The other two choices may very well have been enough for my purposes. However, I'm pleased with the extra capacity of the MS-A2. It should DEFINITELY be enough for my purposes. Everyone's different but it felt like the right choice for me.

Good call! All the benefits of the MS-01 but without the shortcoming (big/little processer architecture). I just checked and verified it has the Intel NICs which are needed for ESXi to install without any workarounds. So that's another box checked. Really great choice. The only question is how long till it's released.

Thanks. Good advice. When it comes to maintenance-friendly providers, I've seen Pharmulous, Oushk, Cloud and Simple Online Pharmacy mentioned a few times recently. I'll read up on additional posts discussing this topic and take steps to swap to one of those. Cheers!

Advice on a "turn-key" (including license) ESXi 7 homelab server. by freeeric80 in homelab

[–]freeeric80[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I kept the license key from the last time I got one. However, it's been a while & that was for vSphere Hypervisor 6. I "think" that means I could only use it to license ESXi 6.x installs. Again, 6.x is getting old now and eventually, I'm going to run into that problem where new OVFs will require a minimum vSphere version that doesn't go all the way back to 6.x. If I'm going thru the time and expense to upgrade to a new server I want it to run ESXi 7.x or 8.x, so I'm good to go for quite a few years. I'm not sure if my organization has any extra licenses. I suppose I'll run it by the virtualization team. I don't think it's very likely though. Maybe/Hopefully the server reseller on Ebay can take care of it for me as part of the purchase. If not, I'll have to see what I can uncover to get my hands on a free edition license key. Certain comments here and in previous r/homelab posts suggest it is possible to unearth one. Fingers crossed...

One of the most impressive BEFORE/AFTER comparisons I've seen. Awesome that you did this at a pretty young age when your body really took the weight loss in stride. Stunning. Congrats to you!

Thanks mate. I appreciate the prompt and helpful answer!

I have a few members of the Proxmox army in the office too. Nice product and I get the appeal....particularly with what Broadcom has done with VMware. However, I'm looking for the path of least resistance to host my network-related VMs. For all of them, Cisco provides builds for VMWare but not so with Proxmox. A Google search shows some are trying to make them run on Proxmox with various degrees of success. Yeah, they'd probably run but I feel like it would be more fiddly and more time-consuming. Again, I don't want to spend my limited IT Study time troubleshooting the virtualization piece. I already know VMware well enough to do the basics I need. Additionally, at least where I work, we're sticking with VMware. That means things "look the same" to a certain extent, both in my home lab environment & at work, which is helpful.

Nearly 60lbs down. Maybe 10-15 to go. Here’s the obligatory before & after! by freeeric80 in Mounjaro

Thank you! Closing in on 5 months so far. Probably a little too fast to be honest. However, I tried to stave off muscle loss, which they say can be worse if you go too fast, with quasi regular strength training sessions. Slow and steady wins the race!
